The Energy Credit Union, 156 Spring St. in West Roxbury, was robbed of nearly $200,000 in a holdup shortly before 1 p.m. yesterday that investigators soon realized was staged by a teller and his brother, posing as a robber, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports. Read more.

Mary Ellen headed over to the West Roxbury Star Market this evening and, as you can see, was confronted with some pretty empty bread shelves in advance of Saturday's storm, which in the annals of New England storms, doesn't seem like it'll be a blockbuster or anything, but, you know, it's been like two years now since we've last gotten major snow, so God only knows how bad it'll get.

An elderly man was hit by a vehicle on Spring Street in front of the Star Market in West Roxbury around 9 p.m. Because of the seriousness of his injuries, the homicide unit was called in. The driver remained on scene.
The Boston Licensing Board could decide tomorrow whether to let Bay Sweets Market, 120 Spring St. in West Roxbury, use some of its shelf space for beer and wine. Read more.

BPD is turning people aroun' so they don't drown on Spring Street in front of the Star Market, while State Police are turning people back on VFW Parkway near the West Roxbury Education Complex, because of the deep downpours this evening.
Shortly after 2:30 p.m., three vehicles collided where Centre Street veers off from Spring Street, sending four adults and a child to local hospitals. The crash may have happened when one of the drivers suffered some sort of medical emergency.
Baker Baker on Spring Street (at Baker) is closing for good at the end of the week. Owner Fran Kolenik says, though, she's looking at possible ways to keep making pies.
