A man who lists the Southampton Street shelter as his home address was ordered held without bail this week at his arraignment on a charge of exposing himself to a teenage girl in the Granary Burying Ground on Tremont Street in July, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports. Read more.

Streetsblog Massachusetts reports on the cruiser crash Saturday afternoon on the sidewalk in front of the Granary Burying Ground on Tremont Street, taking out a traffic light and damaging a hydrant, but not hitting anybody. The officer was on his way down Tremont to the Burger King, where other officers managed to arrest a man while he was still trying to hold the place up at gunpoint.

Boston Police report arresting a man they say went on a spree of destruction in Chinatown and downtown Saturday into Sunday before retiring to the city shelter on Southampton Street. Read more.

Church bells across Boston rang 83 times at noon today to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the death of Paul Revere (at age 83) in 1818.

Remembering George

Part of an impromptu memorial that included a remembrance and flowers.

He was one of those people most of us never paid much attention to. But to the people who regularly walked Tremont Street in front of the Granary Burying Ground, George was a friend, always quick with a "good morning" or "good night."

George Dagraca, 43, died this past Thursday. Somebody set up a memorial for him where he used to sit, along the burying-ground fence. Read more.

Don't fall down the rabbit hole

The city has shut the Old Granary Burying Ground on Tremont Street as officials try to figure out what caused a deep sinkhole at the rear of the cemetery - and what to do about it. Those cones don't look like much, but they mark a wooden sheet covering a hole big enough that officials don't want to worry about a tourist disappearing in it.
