The Massachusetts Appeals Court today reinstated the bulk of a suit against the owner of Dunkin' Donuts franchises in Worcester because of the way one of its employees allegedly reacted to a Black man who ordered food by first delaying his order and then, when he and other employees asked about the delay, tossed the food - and a racial epithet - at him. A federal appeals court has upheld the denial of a design patent to two inventors for a waffle that's flat on the bottom, concluding there was proof somebody had already come up with that idea: A review some guy posted on YouTube of the Dunkin' Donuts Belgian Waffle Sandwich - which he hated. All About Beer reports Dunkin' has stopped shipping its spiked coffee-like beverage to stores for now because Mass. Bay Brewery, which makes the stuff, is holding off new shipments due to "the detection of an off flavor," related to preservatives in the brew.

Update: Ye unobservant ed somehow completely forgot about the America's Food Basket-adjacent Dunk's!

Via the Hyde Park Facebook group comes news that the Dunkin' Donuts across from the 7/11 (where the Store 24 used to be) on Hyde Park Avenue is closing for renovations (i.e., Scandinavian design and those frou-frou coffee taps) tomorrow,

Fortunately, there's another Dunk's just up Hyde Park Avenue, less than a mile away, in the America's Food Basket strip mall.

A federal judge today dismissed what was meant to be a class-action suit against Dunkin' Donuts over alleged overcharging on its mobile app because the only listed plaintiff in the initial complaint and Dunkin' Donuts are both based in Massachusetts, and federal class-action law requires at least one party to be in a different state. Grizzled orange and magenta veteran Ron Newman reports the chain formerly known as Dunkin' Donuts has changed its DDPerks program into Dunkin Rewards:

The new program is now much more like Starbucks Rewards, with tiers of different things available for different numbers of points. The old program was very simple: 200 points got you a free drink of any type and size. In the new program, you get twice as many points per dollar spent, but you need to redeem 900 points for the most expensive drinks (Signature Lattes or frozen drinks).
