Downtown Roche Bros. wants to add liquor to its shelves

The new Roche Bros. in the old Filene's Basement goes before the Boston Licensing Board next week to request a license to sell adult libations along with its prepared meals and groceries.

The board's hearings begin at 10 a.m. in its eighth-floor hearing room in City Hall.

I'm guessing since the high rise is done being built structurally, and I can see them putting up dry wall and interior(s) on the lower levels, Roche Bros' expanded space under the high rise will be used for this purpose?

Yes, this has been the plan since the store's initial planning. They will expand about 10,000 sf into the B1 of Millennium Tower upon completion, with a lot of the expansion being a liquor section to compete with Walgreens.

All they need to do to get approval is to hire Maryann Lewis and she willl talk to Angelo Scaccia and it will be a done deal.

I can't wait to see Andrew Cousino replace Angelo Scaccia next year!
