The Daily Free Press reports on the misfortunes of a BU grad student who ventured to Cleveland Circle for some chicken tacos and tortilla chips at the now shuttered Chipotle last weekend.
There are two Chipotle locations on BUs campus plus better places to get a burrito nearby but this guy has the misfortune to go to the one location where everyone got sick.
How do Clover Fast Food folks prevent illness from happening?... What sanitary practices to prevent infections from happening are different at Clover Fast Food compared to Chipotle Mexican Grill sanitation practices ?
They are probably one of the safer places now that they have learned their lesson in a painfully public manner. They are also under heightened scrutiny due to the earlier outbreak.
They claim they learned their lesson. I claim too late.
Maybe in a few years I'll try them again but I have no reason to trust them now if they screwed up that badly in the past. I'll say the same thing about Chipotle. You shouldn't need a outbreak to learn safe food handling.
I got an inedible sandwich at one location, made by a guy who was so high and incoherent, and making so many crazy mistakes, that I'm surprised he could stand up. I would've walked out, but they already had my money, and I was hungry.
He wasn't capable of putting ingredients (and only ingredients, not trash) into a pita, so how could he possibly begin to follow food safety protocol.
I had to throw out the sandwich in a sidewalk trash can on the walk back, when I realized how badly he'd fudged it up.
I considered going back and talking with the MOD, but decided that any MOD who would let someone work in this condition and obviously fudge up everything was either not there or was not worth talking with.
I guess I was struck by the student's assumption of "I got sick, therefore the meat must have been spoiled." I think of "spoiled" as "sat too long in the fridge and is very old", but maybe this student thought it meant "covered in germs I don't want to eat".
And yeah, noro is one of those viruses where you could have good food handling and still pass it along pretty easily. All the more reason for food handlers to have sick leave.
because except for new years one year its the only time ive ever had to stop shitting, flush as im getting off the toilet, and then stick my face where my ass just was so i could vomit, and then unfortunately spew diarrhea all over the floor of the bathroom as a result of the loss of bowel control induced by vomiting
everybody should experience this once in their life imo
edit: definitely do yourself a favor and remember to hit the flush as youre switching which end is in the toilet bowl, you don't want norovirus poop getting all over your face as a result of the vomit impacting it

I've found the best way to deal with this is to sit on the toilet & hold a bucket in your lap. Both ends covered, so to speak.
Seriously, I've had it too, and, yes, everyone does need to experience the misery. It started with my throwing up in the Hynes station and then it got a lot worse ...

eat at the Kendall Clover on a frequent basis and have many colleagues that also eat there - no issues whatsoever.

The vast majority of people going out to eat today are going to be fine. It just takes the right combination to spark a foodborne outbreak.
I'm with Swirly, the best time to visit a restaurant is after they have been cited for issues and they actually have their act together again.

Norovirus is the most common food-borne pathogen. Of course, it has little to do with food handling and much more to do with the food handler.

When my spouse had it...
...he just sat on the toilet, pooping, will simultaneously throwing up into the bathtub.
So, you know, that's another way to go.

its probably easier to clean poop off a floor than vomit out of a tub, but it's nice that this collaboration is giving us all options in life
