The present day nation of Liberia was founded by the American Colonization Society as a place to send free Black people in an effort to uphold US slavery. Join founder of UHRI & Liberian refugee, Rev. Torli Krua, to:

Learn about the history of Liberia and how the systems of racial oppression in the U.S have had a profound impact on both Liberians and Americans alike, past and present. This will take place through a brief presentation as well as an exhibit of artifacts that will be on display at the Mattapan Library through the month of February.
Engage a panel of people who have lived this history to hear about how it has impacted their lives.
Take-away concrete action steps recommended by Liberian-Americans for how you can support their community.
