Police: West Roxbury man behaved rather badly at Legacy Place

In fact, he bit a cop trying to get him out of the mall for committing various alleged acts of assholery and wound up getting a shot of pepper spray, Dedham Patch reports.

It's like a test course for jackasses. If Legacy Place customers can't handle mall-style movie-set Fake Boston, they should automatically be banned from Boston city proper. His West Rox citizenship should be revoked and he should be given a one-way ticket to Wrentham.

I actually like this idea, however. Set up MORE Boston chains like Aquitane, JP Licks and Zaftig's (Natick location opening soon) and use it as bait for n'er do wells. Maybe we can convince places like Hurricane O'Reilly's or Rumor to do the same. It's a shame The Kells gave up, this seems like a plan they could get on board with.

Movie set fake Boston?

I know exactly what JPSouth means. It's as if Legacy Place, with all of the Boston shops like JP Licks, Sugar Heaven, Aquitane and b. good, is someone's cardboard cutout idea of what Boston life is. Shocked there's not a Strega or a Remy's. These outdoor fake city malls -- oh, I'm sorry, "lifestyle centers" -- are like urban life for the scared suburbanite. All of the stuff, but more parking and less culture -- oh, and it all closes at a reasonable hour.

Really? A tiny outdoor shopping mall is what Boston life is?

When I think of Boston, I think of.... Sugar Heaven beside a parking lot.

So that's why they call it Dedham?

I think it's great.

It also gives residents of Hyde Park, Westie and Roslindale a close place to drive, park and do some things you weren't able to do years ago (see a movie in a decent cinema, go to the best whole foods I've ever seen, bowl (although I loved Sammy Whites), get a good brunch at the Metbar, Yardhouse is ok for a decent brew, Legal Sea Bar is nice,)

What Boston are you guys talking about? People don't go to Legacy place to get culture or anything like that.

What, Ron's isn't good enough for ya? :-).

Go to Ron's for candlepin bowling and a timewarp back to 1972.

Gee Mr. Peabody, you sure are one to talk about "way back when" given that you mention missing Sammy White's. But don't worry, Legacy Place will have an employee robbery/murder soon enough.

And Legacy Place has already had several robberies and one stabbing I believe.

You know - shopping Boston. What other Boston is there. Boston Common, Copley Square, Louisburg Square - so old skool!

Oh for Christ's sake, take the train downtown for your entertainment like normal city-dwellers do, or secede already! ;-)

but Pete's right. It is very conveniently located for those of us in the Southwestern quadrant of the city. Yes, I can take a train with kids in tow downtown to see a movie at the Ritz, but that's not an appreciably better experience than driving a couple miles to Cinema Deluxe (hate the name, just hate it). I won't go to Aquitaine (only Tremont St. works for me), but I'd just as soon go the Whole Foods in Dedham (best one around) rather than hit up the Symphony Whole Foods.

Legacy place has a useful purpose for quick errands and certain experiences that aren't tied to location. It's not remotely like spending an afternoon downtown, and I wouldn't really ever plan to spend time just hanging out there, but it's okay for some functions. And no thanks, I won't be seceding. Roslindale has been part of Boston for almost 150 years, I'm not interested in hearing theories about it not being part of the "real Boston."

Yes, without the final 'e,' because they obviously didn't have a working spellchecker on their computer.

One weird place about the parking garage: If you enter it from the back, it feels just like you're going up in a garage at an airport. I always worry we're late for our flight.

If something's been that way for 150 years, then it must be a good idea.

What.

a few years back and joining Newton or Brookline, but basically it came down to being just impractical for everyone involved. I haven't heard much talk about it in a while.

And the Fenway movies are another hidden gem in my opinion. You can basically park in the lot there for very cheap as long as you get your ticket validated by the movie theatre. You can also get it validated if you go to Best Buy or any of the other places there.

We don't need your riff-raff out here; we have enough of our own.
