JD Drew has his number retired by the Red Sox

A Sox fan sent in this photo of Fenway Park on Friday to the Globe. Hanging among the other retired numbers on the outside of the ballpark was good ol' #7.
Of course, Carlton "Pudge" Fisk (#27) might have something to say about all of this.

Trot
Perhaps it has nothing to do with either Drew or Fisk. Maybe it's a small tribute to the original dirt dog, Trot Nixon? Or, more likely (if it were truly just #7) Dom Dimaggio.

beat me to it
Trot put up nearly identical numbers (actually, better)
Trot w/ Red Sox - 8 yrs .277/.365/.478 avg 18 HRs/70 RBI
JD w/ Red Sox - 5 yrs .264/.370/.454, avg 18 HRs/64 RBI
But Trot's total salary over those years was $27M. JD took the Sox for $70M, for essentially the same performance.
Retire Trot's #7!
what about the rooster?
