By adamg on Sat, 02/11/2012 - 8:38am
Ronan Park and Town Field now have WiFi, the city announces, adding they join Boston Common, Statler Park in Park Square, Christopher Columbus Park in the North End, and the clubhouses at George Wright Golf Course in Hyde Park and William Devine Golf Course in Franklin Park.

Contradictory action
Meanwhile, if you read the public safety posters in Park Street station, they warn against public display of electronic equipment including cell phones and lap tops, due to high theft rates and muggings. Why would things be any different above ground on the Boston Common? If anything, I'd imagine things could even be worse. The city could and should spend the money on bringing Wi-Fi to the neighborhoods instead.
public scare tactics
Come on...you know those T warnings are one part marketing (do you have a cell phone? Of course you do!) and one part fear-mongering. It's all part of the government's plan to keep us in a state of fear and mistrust of one another so we cooperate with law enforcement.
WiFi in the parks means more people which means greater security. It means people getting out of their coffee-shop caves and out into the parks.
WiFi at Ronan Park.
Do you have to be right inside the confines of the Park? I live right next to Ronan Park, and doing a WiFi search, find no signal.
There is one WiFi unit near
There is one WiFi unit near the dog park and another at the top of the hill right on Mt Ida rd. Depending are where you are in the park or near the park you will get different signal strength.
I know there is no signal in right or left field.
Ronan Park
I noticed you said you live right next to the park - can you tell me is this is a safe area? I am thinking of buying a condo. Would be walking to Field Corner T.
