Election roundup: Debate summation, Linehan pulls out of debate
The Globe does the blow by blow. The Herald focuses on schools and unions.
David Bernstein explains why Walsh's sudden demand that Connolly release a list of every law client he ever had was kind of stupid.
To just suddenly toss out this demand two weeks from the election, with no reason, is just a stunt — and not a good one.
Connolly has scheduled an 11 a.m. press conference to kvetch about negative campaigning.
A WBUR poll shows Connolly with the slightest of leads.
District 2 Councilor Bill Linehan and challenger Suzanne Lee were scheduled to debate Thursday at the Lithuanian Club in South Boston, but seems Linehan sensed pro-Lee bias and pulled out yesterday:
The event organizer refused to cooperate with the Linehan campaign requests of having a South Boston moderator and a 6pm to 7:15pm time restriction due to a prior commitment for the Gavin Foundation's Annual Awards Dinner. Event organizer, Joanne McDevitt who is a known Lee supporter was handed this responsibility by fellow group members but could not keep her politics and bias under control.

Connolly the hypocrite
Why is it ok for John Connolly to send out "anonymous" mailers in 2007 bashing Steve Murphy (out of his own pocket, mind you), but not ok for people to bash Poor John? I know his daughter goes to the Trotter, and he taught children from all over Boston, and New Balance built a train station, bla bla bla...
John Connolly's anonymous negative mailers bashing Steve Murphy
It was not OK for John to send negative anonymous attack mailers when he first ran for city council but HE DEFENDED IT saying it "wasn't illegal." He also never apologized to Murphy; if you know otherwise, provide a link.
What surprises me is that reporters who are reporting today about the 3rd party out-of-state PACs mailers attacking Connolly, for which Walsh is not responsible, fail to mention Connolly's negative anonymous attack mailers, for which Connolly was directly responsible.
Wesley Lowery of the Globe was asked why he hasn't reported Connolly's history of negative anonymous attack mailers and he said it wasn't relevant explaining it was too long ago -- it was 2007.
So 2007 is too long ago but John Connolly claims about teaching 10 years prior, circa 1997, that's not too long ago? "I'm a teacher who taught kids from every neighborhood in Boston," he says when he taught 1 year in Boston, which the press reports verbatim and without challenging his misleading rhetoric.
If that seems like privilege to you, you might be right. Ironically that's the case the 3rd party mailer was making, that John Connolly is entitled to privilege most of us are not.
The Globe in the bag for Connolly. So is the Herald. Both editorial staffs endorse him but their news coverage tilts toward him too.
Reporters are basically blaming Walsh for an out-of-state 3rd party PAC mailer, when he's prohibited by law from even talking with the 3rd party PAC. and giving Connolly a pass on history of negative attack mailers. If that seems like privilege to you, you might be right.

Debate withdrawal
Joanne McDevitt represents no one and is probably the most unpopular person in South Boston. Why would anyone select her to run anything? And why would anybody believe she could be given a task and not insert her own personal agenda and bias? She is notorious for that. Linehan was correct in withdrawing.
Why did it take Linehan so
Why did it take Linehan so long to withdraw when the debate was announced a month ago.....me thinks billy is shaking.
He waited so long to withdraw
He waited so long to withdraw because ku ku McDevitt pulled the switch at the last minute.
Well her and the other eight
Well her and the other eight or so neighborhood associations sponsoring it...right?
most unpopular person
2nd most. The most unpopular is the Senator's sidekick Dahill.
