Battle stations, JP: Domino's makes another attempt to bust into the neighborhood

The Jamaica Plain Gazette reports the pizza chain is making its third attempt to set up shop in JP, this time in Egleston Square.
Even if local activists manage to keep the chain out again, JP residents will still be able to get a pie from the new Domino's that is almost fully armed and operational on Washington Street in Roslindale, mere steps from the Forest Hills frontier.

In the past Domino's has
In the past Domino's has supported some pretty nasty right wing extremist groups... not sure if they still do, but even if their pizza was the tastiest chain pizza in the universe I wouldn't give them a dime. If you want to investigate, google it and see for yourself.
Then don't eat there
The Upper Crust imploded when people stopped eating their pizza after it was revealed to be a corrupt, unethical business. Let's trust the market here as well.
oh oh, Domino's
I lived in Ypsilanti Michigan for 15 years, the home of Domino's Pizza and it's then owner Tom Monaghan. At the time he was known for his radical right wing politics and his rabid Catholicism which has only gotten more so. We stopped eating his product in those dark days, which was pretty easy because there was far better delivery pizza to be had. Although he sold Domino's in 1998, but to none other than Bain Capital with that I still refuse to frequent the establishment, and besides, there is better pizza to be had and I like to spend locally.
Is there any part of Massachusetts, Rhode Island, or Connecticut
... where this does not apply?
Perhaps we should require
the local activists to prove their objections beyond a reasonable doubt with actual facts in support of their case, instead of this continual "I don't like it, so it's not good for us" NIMBY whining. Then we might consider not letting a business set up shop in the neighborhood.
Probably won't be much resistance
Egleston Square already has a McDonalds. The chain restaurant activism is mostly reserved for the area of JP west of the Orange Line tracks.

I was just going to pop in here to say exactly this. On top of its fast food restaurant, (two, actually--I think the fried chicken joint is a chain), Egleston has a Rent-A-Center, an adult video rental store, and two check-cashing joints next door to each other. If we're going to worry about neighborhood blight, let's start with the actual blighters.

They're Opening another on the JP/Rosi Border
The recently closed BBQ Town is actively turning into a Dominos and there's been very little public outcry. This new planned store would effectively make a chain of 3 bad fastfood "pizza" shops on Washington St. within 4 miles. 4 if you count the one on Columbus.
Why do they even need a store front seeing that they are primarily a delivery based business?

This would be good for Egleston Square. What do they think is going to open there? Does the Square need another salon? Another violent bar? A scented organic candle shoppe?

Egleston doesn't have a bar, period, within ten blocks. Coco's shut down earlier this year (I assume--it's been dark for months), and they were too sad and empty to have graduated to "violent."

I didn't know Coco's had closed. I had only been to its former iteration as The Stag. That place could be great and pretty terrifying depending on the night.
Chains which are ok in JP
Rent-A-Center, Dunkin Donuts, BofA, Stop & Shop, Payless.
Or are chains ok if they're in Jackson Square away from the City Feed / JP Licks bubble?

Two of them on the pricier end of Centre Street, along with a CVS and a Dunkin' Donuts, although all may have been grandfathered in since they've been around since before JP became fashionable (although I seem to recall there was a ruckus over the Dunkin' Donuts, not because it's Dunkin' Donuts so much as because the city basically let them convert the entire sidewalk into part of their parking lot).
Why not have a few bubble
Why not have a few bubble zones free of chains? Great idea!

Check cashing stores are also apparently okay in Hyde Square--no one ever objects to the ones that are there.
No offense to Dominos but we
No offense to Dominos but we don't need them. The following all deliver, are much tastier than Dominos, have very nice people who own them and have been serving us for years......Captain Nemos, JP House of Pizza, Ideal Pizza, Same Old Place, and the Real Deal. Add to those, places who also serve great pizza.....Doyle's, Bella Luna, The Dogwood, Rizzos. I apologize if I left any off. But, I have tried every one of these and they are all wonderful!
I don't think we need them
I don't think we need them either, but that's for them to decide. If we don't need them then they will have to shut down. But with Egleston something is better than nothing.
Didn't want us before
Dominos refused to deliver to JP for a long time, had no use for the neighborhood.
JP was too far from the other stores
Domino's has a business model which is delivering to everywhere within a certain service area defined geographically in relation to the store. Opening a store in Egleston is about delivering to areas not currently served. In other words, they seek to serve JP, because they have reason to believe JP wants delivery in that neighborhood.
