Pleasure Bay or Savin Hill Bay?
I could be wrong, but I don't recall seeing Expressway traffic from Pleasure Bay. Looks more like Savin Hill Bay just inside the John J. Beades Drawbridge on Morrissey Boulevard.
No way
You can see the Xway from Pleasure Bay.
A telephoto camera lens will
A telephoto camera lens will do the trick!
Not Pleasure Bay, Dorchester
Not Pleasure Bay, Dorchester Bay.
Agree....
...with those who say this isn't Pleasure Bay in South Boston. Pleasure Bay is enclosed by the "Head Island Causeway". There are no boats able to get into the Bay; therefore no need for the big buoy seen in the photo with the notation of a speed limit and "no wake" for boats. Plus, the background in the photo isn't the background of Pleasure Bay. Eileen's a local gal - but I think she misidentified the location. It does look like Dorchester Bay Basin by the Savin Hill Yacht Club. Boats from the yacht club travel out to Dorchester Bay under the drawbridge on Morrissey Boulevard - thus the need for the sign on the buoy.
True
It is actually Dorchester Yacht Club that is on the inside, they use the bridge. Savin Hill is the White building on the Umass side.
From Pleasure Bay you'd have a nice view of Conley Terminal!!
Thanks
Thanks for the correction about the yacht club name - I'm used to seeing the Savin Hill club's sign as I drive by on Morrissey Boulevard - you're right!
Definitely not Pleasure Bay
From Pleasure Bay you might see Fort Independence on Castle Island, or Sullivan's, or freight containers stacked up on the docks next to Reserved Channel. But you certainly won't see I-93.
Not even with a telephoto lens
could you see the Expressway from the Lagoon.
Certainly is such a strong
Certainly is such a strong word. What makes you so sure. When was the last time you walked through this area. As proof from the picture, you can see I-93 from the picture taken on the causeway that goes around Pleasure Bay.
I'm certain that picture was taken from
Pleasure Bay in South Boston where Mark Wahlberg grew up right next to the highway next to Sullivan's in between the Conley Terminal and St. Brendan's.
The no wake buoy is in the
The no wake buoy is in the approach by sea to the yachts clubs on Day Blvd. in South Boston, just off of the old Kelly's Landing. The picture was taken from the causeway that goes around pleasure bay. The granite sea wall in the right side of the picture is the one at the JFK library. The beaches you can see are Tenean Beach and Victory Road Park. The wooden pillings and fence you can see surround Russo's Marine in Port Norfolk (Dorchester).
Agreed
IBEW 103' electronic billboard and the Savin Hill Yacht Club moved to Day Blvd. years ago to occupy the space where the old Kelly's Landing was which was next to Paul Revere's house.
