Every game that Pedro took
Every game that Pedro took the mound in the late 90s/early 2000s was an event. You knew there was a good chance that you would see something incredible happen. I've never experienced that with another player. This is why Pedro is my favorite athlete of all time. Can't wait to drive out to Cooperstown to see his induction speech.
So true
Absurd he only received 91% of the votes.
"I don’t believe in d***
"I don’t believe in d*** curses. Wake up the d*** Bambino and have me face him. Maybe I’ll drill him in the [butt]."
- Pedro Martinez, Hall of Famer
they all didnt vote for pedro
rick gosselin from dallas feels like he is a very important guy.
also, I used to live near fenway and I knew a way to sneak in if I was alone. I must have seen clemens pitch a hundred times and pedro probably 75 times. pedro was better, much better for a five year period. he also did it without PEDs while pitching against PED monsters for his whole career.
Poor guy lives in Dallas
Still, he's supposed to be a writer, and should know there's no 'J' in ridiculous.
Nothing against Pedro , you
Nothing against Pedro , you should have seen Sandy Koufax throw!
Koufax....
... WAS a wonder. No one else quite like him in all the years since....
Thank you for the non
Thank you for the non-sequitur. Let me try.
Nothing against Pedro, but you should have seen Mickey Rooney in Breakfast at Tiffany's!
Whatever floats your boat ,
Whatever floats your boat , pointdexter !
Remember when the Globe published a Spanish-language story ...
... the day after every game that Pedro pitched?
Pedro's interview with SI for Kids
Asked his ambition, he says "I'd like to (expletive) Sandra Bullock." Reminded that it's for a kids' magazine, he says "I'd like to make love to Sandra Bullock."
Should Be A Great Speech
Aside from being (possibly) the premier pitcher in Red Sox history, Pedro Martinez was one of the best interviewees. A very intelligent and articulate man, even in his second language, his induction speech should be a corker.
I'll always remember his amazing smile during the entirety of the victory parade in 2004. He was the happiest man in Boston.

Forget Payro. Schilling got screwed
by Obama and the NYT while lefties Randy Johnson and John Smoltz got in.
please explain?
what Obama or the NYTimes has to do with Schilling's All-Star vote?
I think....
.... (hope?) it's a joke.-- referring to pitching arm rather than politics....
No, it's not a joke
Washington Post: Curt Schilling says being a Republican cost him Hall of Fame votes.
Good thing baseball writers aren't concerned about his performance as a businessman.
Thank you Adam.
More evidence that you own the Boston Blogosphere.

"I do know there are guys who probably will never vote for me because of the things I said or did. That’s the way it works."
True enough. If the sports writers thought you were an insufferable blowhard, well then yeah, they might not vote for you. The Hall of Fame is closer to a High School popularity contest than some sort of scientific evaluation of the greats (sort of like the Oscars, Emmy's, all the other sports hall of fame, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and, apparently, the Nobel Peace Award - I mean, Obama? for what??).
But Smoltz is not exactly a member of the Sacco & Vanzetti Commemoration Society. Supported Ralph Reed way back when. I think Schil should be in there, if for nothing else than the bloody sock incident. Great entertainment! As good as any other reason.
contagious stuttering?
