Teen shot in the head on Fuller Street in Dorchester

While riding a bicycle shortly after 8 p.m. in the area of 128 Fuller, near Washington Street, Stanley Staco reports. Boston Police report the 16-year-old died and that they are looking for two suspects: "both black males in their late teens or early twenties, wearing green hoodies who fled the area on foot on Washington Street towards Mora Street."

Same old crap. It will be on the news for a day and a half, with promises that the police are actively searching for suspect/s, never to be heard of again. Sad life in the hood, but it's reality. Trust for BPD is at like a level -1000, so no one is going to talk. Sad for the young man's family though.

Never said it was their fault. However, when they respond in certain ways (as people in this hood KNOW AND HAVE EXPERIENCED), people tend to distrust them, therefore, they are not willing to talk or come forward. Can you honestly blame people for not coming forward? I can't speak for everyone, but I think the general consensus is, the BPD doesn't care about us, would not protect us if needed, so even though we feel bad about what happens, it's self preservation, period. I am lucky that I've never been put in a predicament where I've seen anything and hope to keep it that way. I stay in my house and mind my own damn business.

When everyone minds his/her own business; bad things happen and no one is held accountable.
When was the last time you spoke to a BPD officer? Do you attend neighborhood civic association meetings? There is probably a community service officer that attends and is pretty easy to talk to.

Hey now the mayor hasn't even gotten around to reading the Boston 2024 bid. When is he going to find the time to tackle the serious political, economic, and societal problems which are leading to the senseless frequent murdering of children by other children throughout the city?
Shiny dreams are too much of a distraction to the mayor when serious city wide quality of life and moral responsibilities really need his full undivided attention.

Blaming Walsh for muders in the black community?
Please, dvdoff. If you come up with a solution, you'll be the first, given all of the factors involved. FWIW, Commissioner Evans, appearing sincere as always, told the media live from the scene, that although one murder is too many, tonight's was the 11th homicide, down from 21 at this time last year. If that trend continues, there will be fewer homicides in Boston this year than any in recent memory. Meanwhile, across the rest of the country, crime is skyrocketing.

I believe he was talking about murder rates in cities, since that is what this issue is about.
From last year:
Chicago murders up 17%, shootings up 25%
Milwaukee murders up103%
New York murders up 20%
St. Louis murders up 25%,
Houston murders up 50%
Los Angeles murders down 2% (violent crime up 27%)
Pilly murders have been going down (no citation)
Last month, Baltimore murders were the worst since 1972.
Police officers murdered last year doubled from 27 to 58.

I do think that a lot of these numbers also have to do with the fact that 2014 had one of the lowest murder rates in recent history though as well. And Boston is simply different than many of the above cities. You really can't compare the dynamic of this city to others across the country.

I'm all for legalizing pot...
...but it's a bit of a stretch to blame Marty for murders in the hood. There's a common theme with these shootings, and it has nothing to do with the empty suit in the Mayor's office.

My point was that we now have a Mayor in Boston who could give two shits about the neighborhoods he left behind.

Baltimore
a similar sized city, has, as of last (no doubt it's increased since last week) 35 murders and is on track to having the worse wave of violent street crime since the 70s when it was averaging 400-500 murders a year (imagine if Boston averaged 400 plus murders a year!). And 35 murders sounds like a typical 3 day weekend in Chicago.

God bless this child's soul, and bring comfort to his family. I don't know what happened here, but no matter the situation, this is very sad.
