Citizen complaint of the day: Pride parade needs to pick up the pace
By adamg on Sat, 06/13/2015 - 11:11pm
A white rabbit of a citizen in the South End felt compelled to complain to the city this afternoon:
Pride parade moves for 29 seconds and stops for 5 min at a time? Why? Its supposed to be a parade not a parking lot!

Too many Divas
on the dance floor?
Something happened on Boylston near the Garden
I don't know what, but what ever stopped the parade required police help.
.
Held up the parade a few minutes.
word is...
that the #BlackLivesMatter protesters were in the parade/
As others have pointed out.

Anybody supporting trans-racial people
like Rachel Dozal? Transracial rights are the next battle after transgender rights for those born in the wrong race. Rachel Dozal has gone a step beyond what wangsters do with clothing, cars, music choices, and mannerisms in her allophilla.
What a surprise.
MarKKK doesn't "believe" that transgenderism is a real thing.
Didn't intend that
Just stirring the pot with someone who has gone the next step with being trans-race, though Elizabeth Warren has been there before to a very small percentage. Native American wise. I did edit my comment above for clarity. I used the word "wannabe". While there are all sorts, I only intended it in reference to race.
Nice try, Mark.
I saw your original, since-edited post in which you equated Dolezal and transpeople as "wannabes".
I'll guess you either saw my post and became suddenly enlightened on trans issues, or you decided you'd rather not defend your true feelings here.
The good news here is two-fold: 1) some online bigots will backpedal the second they get called out; and 2) you can edit your comments, but your original sentiment still exists in Uhub logs and can be preserved as screenshots. Something to think about next time you reach to hit that "Save comment" button.
the question of racism, and remedies
What's interesting about Rachel Dozal is that at a young age she identified more with her adopted black siblings than her parents. And she self-identified as black when she chose a traditional black college. To suggest that her motive in identifying as black was for advantage seems counter intuitive.
Warren was told by her parents that she had native American ancestors. My parents told me the same, on my father's mother's side. I don't have a family tree that shows who and where in the tree (or a genetic test) but my parents were sincere and I believe them. Warren is from Oklahoma. Lots and lots of families of european descent have native American ancestors. I have no doubt Warren's parents told her abut ancestors the same way my parents told me. Verbal family history is more common than written family history and is the only family history... until someone write it down.
Conservatives object to tilting the scales of access to our greatest institutions, like Yale Law, or jobs, government employee, based on considerations of race even if it's meant to address generations of racial disenfranchisement.
That's why they get all excited in cases like Rachel Dozal and Elizabeth Warren. They think it reveals the question of racism as fraudulent but alas it does not.
I'm really flattered, blush
That you find your perception of me so much more interesting to discuss than other subjects.
I'm not trying to hide anything. I do write things open for misinterpretation and distortion, so, its better to clarify them quickly when possible
Being called out as a bigot isn't the kind of attention you
should be flattered by.
So which is it, Mark? Did you realize that your post was hateful and were ashamed of it, or did you just decide that Uhub wasn't the easiest place to defend your idea that transpeople and Rachel Donezal are alike in being "wannabes"?
Door number three
UHub a good place to stimulate thought and discussion. The protest was over trans and race. Rachel Dozeal is in the news over race and trans(ition), so the topics are related! You seem to be the only one interested in giving your concept of me attention.
Monty Python and the Hasty Pudding Club dress up in women's clothing but that doesn't mean they really want to change gender like someone willing to undergo analysis testing by a psychologist then a long process. Lots of people dream of being rock stars and Guitar Center couldn't survive without them. Personal computers and technology sell not on what people need them for, but what people COULD do with them. Dreams are vital. Embrace your wannabe.
As I said before, it's always a positive to
see a bigot go, "Crap, I'm going to get steamrolled for this", and then backpedal furiously. It's even better when they spend post after post trying to re-explain why they deleted their earlier sentiment with ever more convoluted excuses, none of which does a thing to unsay what they said earlier.
You keep going, MarKKK. I imagine in your own mind, at least, you can torture your calling transpeople "wannabes" into something positive and not at all phobic.
Hey, it takes marrying a Kardashian
To be taken seriously by the Jenner crowd. Until then, NPR will give you a good goddamned leaving alone.
Funny how NPR can spend hours on what pronoun to call Jenner with, but not a minute on the Kardashian angle to the story, or how much Jenner stands to make on the reality show...
I support you, MarKKK
especially when you make the transition to human.
When?
More like"if?"
Wang Computer hasn't been around for at least two decades
so why bring them up here?
That's not funny...
and is a cheap shot at people already the subject of horrible violence and discrimination. There are legitimate medical reasons for transgender people to transition, which is why the majority of treatment is covered by health insurance. It's also really obvious, and sophomoric. Did you get that from Fox News?
Everybody's a choreographer
on Pride Parade day.
if so, then missing a Master of the F'ing Universe Choreographer
fierce enough to keep those other bitches in their place!
"bitches" LOL
I love it when Mark calls gay men "bitches." He's so "butch."
oh
oh another pride parade, another complaint about the flow of the parade.
Seems like every year this happens. And every year someone complains about it's flow.
(seriously as long as I've been going to pride this *always* happens.. always stops or has large gaps in the parade)
Why oh why can't they march
Why oh why can't they march in an orderly, straight, normative fashion like the rest of us?!
It was longgg this year
Longest parade I can remember in quite some time, regardless of the 11-minute stoppage. Which was all well and good since it was a nice, sunny day. Not so great for the people parading b/c they must have been quite hot (and, for many, unable to sit down at all!) and no way to get out of the shade.
About that protest? Oh, so much to say.
Well
don't hold back!
So, say it!
I'd love to hear anything you have to say about the protest, or about Pride in general.
There Were No Pelicans This Year
The parade just seemed to sputter out at the end as the trailing groups trickled in. Usually a fleet of pelicans and/or police motorcycles comes through at the end, so you know it's finally over. This year, it just dissolved into a flow of spectators.
In the past, people have complained about the pelicans coming through too soon, sweeping and spraying everyone out of the way, so I suppose it's a good thing they held off until later.
Pelicans
Obviously I know you aren't talking about birds, but this just made me think how much cooler any parade would be with some pelicans flying through in formation at the end....
They Could Use Eagles Instead Of Pelicans
Whining
This complaining privileged South Ender has clearly never been to the Caribbean Carnival. You can wait 15 minutes between floats while watching that parade.
I marched in Pride yesterday. I thought things moved quite nicely. Even the longest delay, which we later learned was due to a protest, was not that long of an interruption.
