Police crack down on naked couch surfers in Arlington alleys

Arlington Police report arresting a pair of local residents they say they found lying nude on a couch behind the Regent Theatre on Medford Street around 11:45 p.m. on Wednesday.

Ryan Barry, 23, and Nicole Carmichael, 26, were both charged with indecent exposure and trespassing. Barry is also charged with disorderly conduct and assault.

Police located a completely naked male subject, later determined to be BARRY, laying down on a couch. Officers determined he was breathing. They located a woman, CARMICHAEL, next to BARRY who was also breathing. "Private Property" and "No Trespassing" signs were clearly visible in the area.

"This is an unfortunate situation where two parties clearly violated the law," Police Chief Frederick Ryan said in a statement. "I applaud the work of the responding officers from the Arlington Police Department who handled the incident professionally and responsibly while ensuring the safety of all involved."

Arlington police say the responding officers told Barry and Carmichael to wake up and put on their clothes several times, when Barry became combative, leading police to arrest him. Police arrested Carmichael when they discovered her outstanding warrant from Winchester police.

The naysayers were right -- make the street nicer and it will only attract naked hippies looking for bedbug ridden couches!

The worst fears have been confirmed: The renovation was just a ploy to turn respectable East Arlington into the new Allston.

As a bicyclist I'm no fan of the supposed improvements, which waste more space on useless buffer strips than they provide to pedestrians, cars, or bikes. But I'm still looking forward to them, since Mass Ave is currently useless for biking due to chewed-up pavement.

Naked on an outdoor couch is more gross than naked on a hubway seat for WNBR. Odd place they chose instead of usual places near the bike path or cemetery. Some people thought Arlington was dull.

BTW, google image search on her picture suggests Angelina Jolie before plastic surgery. I guess that confirms its a good mugshot.

And 'Patrick Barry', 21, arrested for assault in Arlington and Boston. He died in police custody. Uhub reported the case of his assaults around Northeastern. Maybe it's me, but he looks physically similar to Ryan Barry. Maybe just coincidence.
