Actually he was not a gangbuster he was someone's son, brother, grandson, cousin. If you have nothing good to say be quite.

'Can't the schools...' Now, that is rich. Last year an already perfectly overwhelmed BPS saw crushing budget cuts across the boards. Single high schools that already had 31 in a classroom peppered with various language learners and students with special needs who offered Xerox copies in place of books saw more than one million dollars cut from their individual budgets while the well proven-to-not-work-at-all for profit charter school program got a huge bolstering in public funding. These schools that lost 25 + teachers, counsellors, sports and music programs needed large sums of money to properly serve these children before these cuts. So, yeah... maybe we should look elsewhere for someone to patrol T stations. For the record, MANY teachers and administrators do follow students to bus and T stops to try and insure their safety despite this (obviously) not being part of the job description.

Honestly there is no controlling the students once they've left the school and unfortunately many of them act like wild animals at these stations. Deploying teachers and or other adults to supervise them wouldn't work because of so many kids at that time. What I'll never understand for the life of me is not having a police presence at every station during the hours from when the kids leave school up until about 6pm. All the cop details around the city you mean you can't deploy more officers to prevent more violence. My students name was Mason Ramon. Good kid. Full of life and energy. They say the 16 year old who stabbed him to death was waiting at the station for him. Now if police were present this would be avoided. For all the comments about thugs and gangsters getting shot. I'm a teacher with his masters degree who was shot in the back of the head while at northeastern in 2009. So let's stop saying every time it happens it was because we are all in gangs in this city. Bad things do happen to good people no matter how much we try to avoid them

It begins at home, our homes no matter where you live, it begins at home. Our children are taught what they know and see. RESPECT, MANNERS, RULES & CONSEQUENCES these are the rules of life where you will be successful or a failure. When children are sent into the world they should be sent with respect, when children enter school, they should have respect and manner intacted, it is not the school and teachers job to raise your children, but to educate them. Most of these children/teens are anger, they feel unloved, abandon so they have the mentality that why should I care nobody cares about me, they don't even stop and think if I shoot or stab this person, I'm going to jail, my life is over and I took someones life over something as stupid as what neighborhood your from, or they don't like someone. Society has to make a big change it doesn't matter if you live in the projects or the suburbs, it begins at home, teach our children their worth send them in the world with RESPECT, MANNERS, RULES AND CONSEQUENCES, not you don't have to listen to anyone but me and see the path change.

People get confused. Longwood Security Special Police Officers do not work in the Longwood Medical Area. They patrol all parts of the hood just like the Boston Police do but they do not get any special preferences on the civil service exams or the pay and benefits that BPD receive and they risk their lives everyday too. Its even more dangerous then being a Boston Cop.
