Boston defunct chef Todd English was seen running from scene, along with other up and coming but financially down and out defunct Boston chefs from yesteryear.

But this guy had done the same thing multiple times. As someone who saw firsthand (as a kitchen worker and server) how tough it is to succeed in the restaurant business, I have a special hatred for this type of stealing.
And yes, I know you have a lot more experience in the business than I. But Santos is a Saint and hero to me. Patron saint of justice.
restaurants. But the press abuses the word "hero", in my book; it devalues the meaning of it for people who actually risk their lives in some worthy cause. I'll give Santos "plucky", "doughty" and "dogged", though.
Nailing a guy like this who obviously makes a habit of this kind of thing is a public service.
I've never understood people who joke about "dining and dashing" etc--they've obviously never worked in a restaurant or seen a waitress in tears because she has to make up the bill. Just a stupid, shitty thing to do.
Every restaurant in Boston will post his Mugshot if and when they release it. The chef is a hero to everyone who's worked in F&B and gotten screwed over by a guy like this.
Sites like boston.com, Patch.com, and now Herald.com use huge photos instead of content. Perhaps they are small on a phone, but on a desktop, its lots of wasted space for a generic stock photo when they don't have a photo of the story scene or individuals.

Finally...
Something in the Herald worth reading.
As a former restaurant employee, I say good on Chef Santos. Let the guy steal from the prison cafeteria.
I admire the chef's tenacity, but the "hero" tag
is hardly warranted. Rush into a burning building and save somebody's life? That's heroic. Chase down a deadbeat for a $20 check? Not so much.
Todd English was the person
Todd English was the person who chewed and screwed and ran a mile before getting caught.. lol
Actually, English got away clean every time. It was his
employees, purveyors and landlords who got screwed. I think he's finally run out of fools willing to extend him credit in Boston.

Normally, i'd agree

I'm no authority on the industry, just a guy who reviews

I'm pretty sure that
I'm pretty sure that apprehending criminals falls under the umbrella of heroism. The word allows for small heroic acts as well as large.
I don't think it was just to get his $20 back.

"Defrauding an innkeeper"
is an interesting crime to be charged with.
Probably just as well he didn't use a bad check
Because then he might have been charged with "uttering" as well.
Mugshot?
Can we get a mugshot of the suspect since it appears from the story he's doing this on a regular basis? Also, who referred to the chef as a hero?
Yes with the Mugshot
Every restaurant in Boston will post his Mugshot if and when they release it. The chef is a hero to everyone who's worked in F&B and gotten screwed over by a guy like this.
Got it!
He tweeted a pic right after it happened.

I'm so impressed that the Chef
could run in clogs. More than a mile!
chase
I'm picturing it like the cable guy chasing Kramer through Manhattan.
What's with the Herald's new layout?
on their web site? Did it really work so well for Boston.com that they want to go that way?
From yesterday:

I hate generic stock photographs

We agree on that
They are even worst on mobile as they use up limited bandwidth while providing almost no useful information.
Herald
new site is horrible!
