Citizen complaint of the day: The cloud of powder in Sullivan Square

A concerned citizen reported this morning:

What is all over the street around Sullivan Sq? It's a fine powder that's being thrown up into the air whenever making a cloud you can't see 20 feet through? Is it a chemical from a truck? There is tons of it! Please clean it up!

'Please clean it up!' Talk about a sense of entitlement! Damn... I wonder how this person speaks to waiters, the mailman, person pouring their coffee at Dunkin. What a nasty brat.

Fine particulates can be very dangerous for long-term lung health and can trigger asthma attacks and such. It's a reasonable request.

They said please. What more do you want? On of the many points of such a service to for people like the complainant to request things like spilled chemicals [that are not such an imminent danger to require 911 calls] to be cleaned up. Is it entitled to not want detritus everywhere?

"Please, bring me some water"?
"Please, leave some room for milk"?

The horror!

/can't tell if you're joking or serious & stupid

As pointed out above, the requester said "please".

It's a hazard found on a public road; that's what the DOT or local DPW is supposed to do...

I saw a truck going northbound on 93 this morning, (as I headed toward Sullivan) that was undoubtedly the cause. There was something flying off the roof of it (seemingly in an endless supply) as it sped in the other direction.

I work in the area and also had to walk thru the clouds of dust/powder this morning, coming out of Sullivan Sq station. As I headed down Spice St, there were 3 cement trucks turning on to that same street, and one cement truck trying to exit. Must be Concrete Day at one of the nearby construction projects. There were clouds of cement dust/dirt coming off the trucks as they drove by.

behind the Schraffts building. Is it still there?

Given that it is Friday and most cement terminals are closed on Saturday; it is likely construction companies stocking up on cement. The weather Saturday will be perfect for getting caught up on projects.

Absolutely unreal, the way people find things to get upset about"Eww...Yuck!! There's icky powder in the street!! Please clean it up NOW cuz this is vitally important to the area!! - the area being Sullivan Square, where, MEANWHILE...after dark (or at other times for that matter) women (and men!) can't walk from the T stop to their home several blocks away without worrying about being mugged, robbed, stabbed, raped, or whatever - especially if they're walking into "Illegal Alien Sanctuary-ville"......(oops, sorry, forgot that it's technically not illegal to be illegal" in
But icky white powder? Like, ew!!! Icky!!! Clean it up NOW!!!!!!!!

Simply unreal. What absolute nitwits some people are. Wake the hell up to reality...Powder? Seriously? Why don't you call it in as an Anthrax scare. Then you'll really get some of that desired attention you crave.

Idiot.

So we can just go dump a load in front of your house?

You assume quite a bit from a single report filed on a citzen-complaint system.

Public Works sent a sweeper through the area, 311 reports.
