Dedham residents aghast at idea of Hooters where the Bugaboo Creek used to be
By adamg on Sat, 04/02/2016 - 12:00am
Wicked Local Dedham reports residents are steadfast against the proposed short-shorts burger bar because it would mean more traffic at a key intersection leading to Legacy Place and also would objectify women just up the road from the Amazing.net shop, which at least has the decency to be in the back of a building where nobody can see it from the main road.

Stupid question
Is Amazon.net suppose to be Amazon.com
Probably Amazing.net - The porn store.
Or whatever it was.
no short skirts
The waitresses wear short orange shorts :-)
Fixed
Thanks. Was obviously thinking of that poseur chain moving into the Fenway :-).
Shame
Shame their wings aren't better.
Dedham,
It's about the food and family friendly environment. Nothing too see there....
*cough* property values
Objectify women? Sexual attraction is objectification? Or simply admiring the human body is objectification?
Route 1
I love how the author on Wicked Local makes reference to this part of Dedham as Route 1. Route 1 hasn't been through there in 20 plus years.
It will always be Route 1
Just like the road up the road will always be Route 128.
Weird newish Rte. 1 sign
When Dedham resurfaced Washington Street a few years ago (just in time for Big Pipeline to rip it up on one side last year), they put a Rte. 1 JCT sign just before the rotary where it meets VFW Parkway. You go, old-school Dedham DPW person!
I object to this
I object to this on the grounds that Hooters is tackier than even the other stuff on Rt 1 currently, though I suppose not by as much as I'd like to belive.
Would it actually cause more traffic? I dunno. That whole area is a clusterfuck for pedestrians though, so if someone can coax some pedestrian improvements out of the developer I'd at least feel better about it. And if you don't think people walk around there, hang out on Rt 1 before everything at legacy place opens, a fair number of folks cross Rt 1 from the 34e bus. Oh, and me, every once in a while when I forget how horrible it is to walk around there even though I only live a mile away.
Traffic- let me put it this way
Will it be creating more traffic than Bugaboo Creek did?
I honestly don't see what the big deal is with Hooters either way. I went to the one at the Mall of America once. It was nothing to either be aghast at or want to go back right away. I guess the food was okay, and I've seen waitresses be skankier to get tips, so meh.
