Citizen complaint of the day: Headless rooster at Roslindale train stop
By adamg on Sat, 04/09/2016 - 1:54pm
A concerned, and probably disgusted, citizen requested a cleanup around 1 p.m. at the Roslindale Village commuter-rail stop:
There is a large beheaded rooster next to the commuter rail tracks at the pedestrian crossing.

Citizen complaint of the day: Snipping the head off a cock at Roslindale train stop (and not a mohel in sight!)
And the UHub Mobile Action News Unit springs into action ...
So we drove up to the station (why, yes, of course, the kidlet wanted to come; she does have those reporting genes, after all) and, sure enough, there was a headless chicken - with its head about three feet away from its body. The body was right next to the train tracks, near the steps on the Belgrade Avenue side, so I'm going to guess the poor thing stuck its neck out at just the wrong time as a train was coming into the station. Now as to why there was a chicken wandering around Roslindale Square to begin with, well, the neighborhood does have all these renegade chicken farmers.
There was a guy there waiting for a train and he was just completely outraged that the driver of whatever train hit the bird didn't stop to, um, render assistance or something. He was really bothered by this, and kept going on about it, so I didn't say anything about how maybe the driver didn't even know, even if it were light out, because a) the chicken isn't that big and b), it was on the Belgrade Avenue side of the track, and the passenger platform at that stop is on the other side, so there's not even any reason to look at the side where the chicken was.
And, yes, of course, I got a picture. Not posting it, even though there's no obvious blood, because, well, headless chicken with its head three feet away pretty much sums it up.
Now I'm waiting for...
The UHub helicopter
"render assistance"
LOL, my day has been made. I know I should probably chime in with my own pun, but I'm seriously outgunned in that regard, on this site!
Render?
Schmaltz and gribenes, you can render. Assistance, no.
The Seinfeld Principle (Rule 34 variant)
If an odd, mundane situation exists, there is a relevant Seinfeld episode for it:
did this chicken simply lose his mind?
or was somebody trying to... punch his ticket
YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Now we know why
Q. Why did the chicken cross the road?
A. Because it saw what happens when you try to cross the tracks.
Santeria, voodoo
Very possible, or just some f'ed up individual (s).
You suspect....
....fowl play?
We deny everything!
We deny everything!
This reminds me of the the sleeps with the fishes scene
from The Turkeyfather Two, which is by far the best of the Turkeyfather series.
Well it was a little chilly today...
...so maybe the suspect had a capon...
Similar experience
Years ago on the ground on the Boston Common I saw a necklace made out of a recently severed pigeon's head. I'm not kidding. I could barely stand to look at it, but it appeared to be very skillfully done, like with a scalpel or something.
Around a person's neck????
Someone was wearing it?
Is it running around like a..
Is it running around like a... ?
Coq au train
Why waste...
Maybe the Duke is interested?
Why did the rooster cross the rail road?
Oops.
Very sorry, but when I saw the headline for this post...
…my first thought was "Headless Body in a Topless Bar."
Must've lived in this city too damn long.
Hope it wasn't from this ..

Or someone's going to lose their deposit.
Santeria: Headless rooster on the tracks
Definitely Santeria. Sacrificing chickens on the railroad tracks is a Big Thing in Miami, though for reasons known only to the Santeristas, they are often enclosed in a cloth bag or pillow case.
But I wish I had thought of the mohel joke.
So this means
The 6:34 is going to be on time tomorrow?
That would take a bigger sacrifice
than just one chicken.
It's not actually that funny
This was a living creature.
And, as some others pointed out, it was probably, deliberately, intentionally killed.
And even if it was someone's backyard chicken who got out of the coop, it's still sad.
You're right
We shouldn't rush off half-cocked.
Is a candlelight vigil what, your offering?
Yes, and?
As was last night's dinner, for those of us who eat meat.
It's the work of Santeros
I grew up in a Hispanic neighborhood and saw the same thing at a railroad trestle where I used to go fishing as a kid. Struck me as odd until I learned that sort of animal 'sacrifice' a ritual of the afro-Cuban religion (or debatably, cult).
Someone may have already posted something similar, but for some reason I can only see about half of the comments on here.
