Person shot, seriously wounded on Gavin Way in South Boston
By adamg on Tue, 08/16/2016 - 12:03am
A teenager was shot around 11:45 p.m. in the area of 24 Gavin Way. The homicide unit was called in, just in case, due to the severity of his injuries.
It's the latest violent incident in recent months in and near the Mary Ellen McCormack Development: On July 12, police say a man ran at officers with a loaded gun at Gavin and Logan ways. On July 11, a person was shot in the face on Gavin Way. On June 20, a man was shot on O'Callaghan Way.
And on Dec. 5, a man was shot to death on Old Colony Avenue.

How long is left for McCormack?
McCormack's got high end condos inching closer by the day and Kraft looking to build a soccer stadium next door. Add in the geographic appeal of the area and you gotta think it's only a matter of time.
Nope
Obviously, there are problems there, but fortunately, Boston is not a city that just plows under public-housing projects to make way for luxury high rises or Olympic stadiums. What you might see is something like happened at Harbor Point or will be happening at Bunker Hill - the project is replaced by a mixed-income development that has at least as many public-housing units (but in updated, less army-barracks-like buildings) as before.
Nope
The Old Harbor Housing Development is a National Historic Landmark so those bricks aren't getting touched anytime soon.
