Men robbed of $420,000 in cash in Roxbury; cops capture suspects and get the cash back

The Herald reports on how people coming home from work at a money-transfer place with the cash in a suitcase Tuesday afternoon were targeted by three guys who stopped their car and took the suitcase - only to be stopped themselves several hours later, by police.

This is a fascinating story, but it creates more questions than answers:

Sounds pretty legit. I'm sure if there were any hint of $420,000 in cash being illegal, the cops would probably look into it, or they wouldn't have been called by the victim in the first place.
Yeah but......
The business sounds legit, but the transporting of money to buy a house in a personal vehicle seems super sketchy!! I wonder if the companies insurance carry knows how funds are transported. Too bad their isn't a company with big armored vehicles that move large sums of cash between locations.
Bottom line is it sounds like the business is short-cutting some costs to save money and it potentially bit them in the backside; and apparently their mode of transportation wasn't a closely guarded secret.

Legitimately
By going through traditional banks to wire money between accounts.
Hire an armored car service?
They cost less than one would think. Okay, less than I thought. Many years ago.
Why isn't such a company
Why isn't such a company using an armored car or armed courier service to escort the transfers? Even jewelers and other high value commodities use similar services and have special transport cases equivalent to heavy duty portable safes with tracking capabilities.
