Vote for a Mayor and City council that give a damn about maintaining the historic decrease in crime under Menino, while raising the issue till this mayor admits he has a problem and has a plan.

In terms of violence, there was a recent drive-by shooting from car to car on Mass. Ave.
There was a recent shooting attributed to road rage on Ring Road, I believe.
Then there are what used to be called quality-of-life issues, which have subsided somewhat in the bad winter weather but were ubiquitous all spring, summer, and fall:
Bucket drumming after 11 PM on Boylston near the Apple Store (in nice weather)
Unpoliced skateboarding on BPL Dartmouth Street place and in Copley Square
Loud unlicensed street bikes roaring up Boylston in packs, weaving and wheely-ing in and out of traffic, endangering pedestrians.
Public drinking, pot smoking, dealing on steps of BPL
People camping overnight on BPL stairs, the Old South Church front entrance, and that poor woman who sets up her sleeping quarters in the bus kiosk on the south side of Boylston at Dartmouth virtually every night, and then relocates to the inbound Copley Station when it opens.
Aggressive panhandling (and paid charity solicitors, I might add) everywhere, but particularly outside the CVS at Copley, and near the Wendy's.
Zero moving violation traffic enforcement -- yellow lights are green, and red lights are mere suggestion. Someone is going to get killed (like they already have been in the South End, which has it even worse). This is particularly galling since many if not most intersections have cameras. Why aren't they being used for enforcement, ticketing, fines?)
Obviously, none of these things are, in and of themselves, major issues or incidents. But they add up to a neighborhood in decline. This is a central showcase area for one of Boston's most important economic drivers -- tourism. And when you consider that this is going on when Boston's economy is booming, it doesn't bode well for the inevitable recession/building bust/bubble burst.

Menino was the god of the corporate tax giveaway.

Marty has only done 2 major deals I can think of- GE and the Fenway air rights deal. Both VERY small relatve to the size of the benefits. I opposed the Fenway deal, but the GE deal may pay some dividends.

What programs did Walsh cancel that were in place under Menino? Menino was no better at enforcing employment quotas than Walsh.

Not touting Walsh, but give me Marty or give me Tom, same diff. Walsh does do a better job of getting housing developed in the neighborhoods.

Not a single comment. Two people get shot around the corner from McGreevey's or the wonderful Tesla store across the street and you damn skippy that is going to get traffic here on UHub a lot more than a bunch of kids in the hood clipping each other.
