When gun suspect in car tried flooring it at traffic stop, cop jumped onto him and pulled the parking brake, police say
Boston Police report arresting a man on gun charges following a traffic stop on Norfolk Avenue near East Cottage Street around 12:40 this morning.
Police say officers had pulled Anthony Silva's car over for having excessively tinted windows. As one officer spoke to Silva, 19, another officer was talking to his passenger, when that officer noticed a gun sticking out from under Silva's seat, police say.
The officer who was speaking to Silva immediately opened the driver’s door and ordered Silva to exit the car. Silva then put the vehicle into drive and attempted to flee the stop. The officer was able to enter the vehicle and gain control of Silva’s upper body while pulling the emergency brake, causing the tires to screech and the vehicle to come to a sudden stop. After a brief struggle, the officer was then able to reach down and seize the firearm, while at the same time Silva was attempting to reach for the gun.
Police say officers secured a loaded Smith & Wesson M&P 9-mm firearm. Silva was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, unlawfully carrying a loaded firearm, unlawful possession of a high-capacity feeding device, possession of a firearm with an altered/obliterated serial number and assault and battery on a police officer. He also got a ticket for excessive window tint and failure to submit to an officer. Police say Silva's passenger was released.

Great Restraint
Once again it appears that Boston's Finest police officers play still lives in jeopardy.
I really don't think people comprehend each and every time a police officer stops an individual or engage in individual he or she could die or be murdered instantly. Just think how many times a police officer engaging individual.
It appears in this particular incident our officers showed great restraint and not using deadly force and they risk their lives attempted to apprehend this Criminal.
