Hey, there! Log in / Register

And the parade will be Wednesday morning

Starts at 11 a.m. at Fenway Park, goes down Boylston to Tremont up to Cambridge to New Sudbury. There will be NO rally at City Hall Plaza.

Walsh: No knuckleheads at parade, please. "Don't do anything you wouldn't do in front of your own house." He said there was only one arrest last night.

Parking restrictions will be in place starting at midnight along the route.

Complete route and parking information.

Police Commissioner William Gross said the police attention to the parade will not mean any service gaps in the rest of the city. "We will have full coverage" of officers in all neighborhoods, he said.

He added public drinking will not be tolerated and warned parade goers to leave any guns at home. Because Wednesday is Halloween, he added: "Please, no costumes with replica firearms. It will not be tolerated."

This ladies is how you get to be super duper important, look good and know your place and never forget the Lipstick!!! or the social media! #boston.com

Daddy tells me I have the best spin rates and launch angles of any girl he has ever seen.

Crawled up your ass!

That first paragraph is hilariously horridly backhanded.

Please fuck off, thanks.

Adam, this account's comments are ridiculous and irrelevant. I come to Uhub for the local news, not poor attempts at trolling. I'm sure I'm not the only one sick of "trophy wife linda"

Have you ever noticed no one's ever seen TrophyWife, SoBo Yuppie and Blue (ba da be ba da) in the same place at the same time? Hmmm...

Right now I'm operating they are different people. And I'm amused at the thought of how much SoBo is raging at the Red Sox's victory. That man is my antithesis of my philosophy for regional subcultures. Always trying to impose his personal nomenclature, norms, tastes, and views. One area that "trait" is expressed the most is through sports. Always rooting for the other team. Always wishing the worst the fans.

So eat it SoBo. Enjoy this W. Yes, a W. For Boston.

TWL is sarcastic. SBY is just bitter, although to be fair SoBo does occasionally break character and mentions some nice community things he does. But when it comes to sports, this is yet another dark day for him. The good news for him is that there won't be another chance for a local team to win the championship until February.

(Edited to correct a typo)

and those with families.

When a local sportsball team does well, it brings a bunch of suburbanite neanderthals into the city and lowers the quality of life in the city. They piss, puke, fight, make racist taunts (Adam Jones incident)...etc. Think about a family trying to get their kids to school on public transportation the day of the parade or an elderly person trying to run errands or make a doctor's appointment.

The only two sporting events we should have are the Head of Charles and Boston Marathon. These events bring out a much more classier and sophisticated crowd.

- A Bostonian who cares about Boston residents, unlike sportsball fans.

Are also “sports ball” fans. Heck, the head of the parish St. Vincent de Paul group has been a Patriots season ticket holder since back when Brady was in high school.

I care about my neighborhood *and* I enjoy seeing the Red Sox win championships. Just because I live in a different municipality (that I can walk to from Boston) doesn't mean I don't belong on Boylston Street tomorrow morning.

Time and time again you've shown you care only about yourself. You hide behind the flag of racism when it's convenient for you to make your point. You care not one iota about the elderly and\or families with children. I highly doubt you even ride the T beyond the number 7 bus. Lots of these families you pretend to care about will be going to the parade today and I know they will have a great time. Enjoy your self inflicted misery today you snob.

Doh!

Readership of UH is completely voluntary.

I need to talk to my parole officer.

if I'm understanding the press conference correctly. (The 2013 parade did go into the river.)

I believe that wasn’t planned but happened be cause the crowds were so huge.

2013 was a planned but a lot of the players and people in the parade really didn't enjoy it, it was way too long and honestly not worth it so it was decided it wouldn't be do e again.

I rode with Red Sox alumni in the 2013 parade and they all honestly hated the water portion - a lot of other players on the other ducks felt the same. It also takes sooooo long to get all the way to the Mass Ave bridge and back later.

One year (it might have been 2004) a TV reporter interviewed him as he got off the boat. He asked Johnny a question, and he replied "Anyone seen a john around here? I've gotta take a piss".

Definitely one of the best rolling rally moments.

Maybe after the MO duck boat drownings that stopped seeming like such a great idea.

is what's not a great idea. Sad that, with all the champions of late, the City still hasn't figured that out.

The amount of attendees, so it's a smart idea.

The city is obligated by contract with MLB or the players union or something like that to hold it within a certain small number of days after the victory. Unfortunately they don't really have much say in the matter. They'd rather have them on a weekend too.

The team is probably obligated. And the city accommodates them. I'd like to see a contract holding any city responsible for holding a victory parade.

You may be right that it's the team that has the obligation, but the reason Walsh gave for the timing was "it's contractual." 8:22 of the video:

Most of the players have homes in other parts of the country and want to go home to their families. They don't want to be here an extra week waiting for a parade, and I don't blame them.

They have to pack out of their homes and apartments, anyway. At least go back for their lucky beard trimmer, their car if they have one here, a jug of maple syrup for Aunt Ellie and a couple of cases of Trillium to go.

When you consider that game 6 and 7 would have been at Fenway anyway (e.g. they were scheduled to work Tuesday and Wednesday), it isn't exactly an unexpected burden to return and gather your stuff.

Baseball season is over, and all the players are ready to go back to their permanent homes. How long should we make them 'sit around' here just to accommodate a parade?

BUT, the final game (#6) was on Wednesday that year. If this year's series had gone to 6 or 7 games, we might be having a Saturday parade.

This is what the players want. Quit crying.

Yes the entire region should take a close look at how this parade is such a hardship for you. Imagine having to share a three seater on the commuter rail with another member of the public. On public transportatio. Oh the horror!
Hint: You survived other celebrtions, you'll survive this one. Unfortunately.

is here: https://www.boston.gov/news/red-sox-world-series-victory-parade . It has the route and all of the parking restrictions.

Adam, can you add this link to your post?

Did they use a picture of Marty, what an Obama move. Marty celebrating the World Series with a picture of Marty!

then we can all look at your ugly mug.

Trump hasn't thrown out any first pitches because it would be the loudest booing in recorded history. Plus his fat ass couldn't throw a ball two feet.

But I cannot deny that it would be a cascade of booing akin to having Aaron Judge throw out the first pitch at Fenway.

Then again, he spent a lot more time playing than Trump spent in the military.

Obama had good arms, but was more a Basketball guy.

Most of them make obvious sense, but I can't figure out why Columbus Avenue in Roxbury (behind Northeastern University), or East Dedham Street and Plympton Street in the South End, are on the list.

that I can recall. The 2004 Red Sox 2002 Patriots had the first "Rolling Rally" with duck boats, and each championship since then has continued the practice.

History of Rolling Rallies, from Boston Duck Tours website

EDIT: I'm wrong, see comment below

When the Pats beat the Seahawks the rally ended on Congress and the players went through City Hall to see the fans on City Hall Plaza

2/7/17, following the rolling rally.

1/26/15, same deal.

When the pats beat (I think) the eagles.

Source - was in town for a job interview and stayed many long hours in full interview garb in the cold waiting for them to arrive. I remember the area smelling like pee because drunk college students had no class (literally and figuratively.)

The '68-'69 Celtics were the first. The Celtics had epic victory rallies at Boston City Hall Plaza. The Red Sox have had rallies at BCHP too. Heck, they even had a BCHP rally in '86. It was billed as an appreciation party

The ducks are a 21st Century thing.

I still remember the rally when the Avs won the Stanley Cup.

I guess it doesn't matter if the street is completely closed down. It's just kind of breaking my brain. YOU CAN'T DO THAT!!!

I don't remember who said it, the Mayor or the police commissioner.

Always kinda cool to watch players say a couple words. My guess is sadly security concerns

That was the stated reason in 2004 and I think it's still valid today.
