Starts at 11 a.m. at Fenway Park, goes down Boylston to Tremont up to Cambridge to New Sudbury. There will be NO rally at City Hall Plaza.
Walsh: No knuckleheads at parade, please. "Don't do anything you wouldn't do in front of your own house." He said there was only one arrest last night.
Parking restrictions will be in place starting at midnight along the route.

Police Commissioner William Gross said the police attention to the parade will not mean any service gaps in the rest of the city. "We will have full coverage" of officers in all neighborhoods, he said.
He added public drinking will not be tolerated and warned parade goers to leave any guns at home. Because Wednesday is Halloween, he added: "Please, no costumes with replica firearms. It will not be tolerated."

TWL is sarcastic. SBY is just bitter, although to be fair SoBo does occasionally break character and mentions some nice community things he does. But when it comes to sports, this is yet another dark day for him. The good news for him is that there won't be another chance for a local team to win the championship until February.

I care about my elderly neighbors
and those with families.
When a local sportsball team does well, it brings a bunch of suburbanite neanderthals into the city and lowers the quality of life in the city. They piss, puke, fight, make racist taunts (Adam Jones incident)...etc. Think about a family trying to get their kids to school on public transportation the day of the parade or an elderly person trying to run errands or make a doctor's appointment.
The only two sporting events we should have are the Head of Charles and Boston Marathon. These events bring out a much more classier and sophisticated crowd.

Are also “sports ball” fans. Heck, the head of the parish St. Vincent de Paul group has been a Patriots season ticket holder since back when Brady was in high school.
As a Somerville resident and Sox fan, I resent these statements
I care about my neighborhood *and* I enjoy seeing the Red Sox win championships. Just because I live in a different municipality (that I can walk to from Boston) doesn't mean I don't belong on Boylston Street tomorrow morning.

2013 was a planned but a lot of the players and people in the parade really didn't enjoy it, it was way too long and honestly not worth it so it was decided it wouldn't be do e again.
I rode with Red Sox alumni in the 2013 parade and they all honestly hated the water portion - a lot of other players on the other ducks felt the same. It also takes sooooo long to get all the way to the Mass Ave bridge and back later.
Who remembers Johhny Pesky on the duck boats?
One year (it might have been 2004) a TV reporter interviewed him as he got off the boat. He asked Johnny a question, and he replied "Anyone seen a john around here? I've gotta take a piss".
Definitely one of the best rolling rally moments.

is what's not a great idea. Sad that, with all the champions of late, the City still hasn't figured that out.

The city is obligated by contract with MLB or the players union or something like that to hold it within a certain small number of days after the victory. Unfortunately they don't really have much say in the matter. They'd rather have them on a weekend too.

The team is probably obligated. And the city accommodates them. I'd like to see a contract holding any city responsible for holding a victory parade.

Lets the players go home
Most of the players have homes in other parts of the country and want to go home to their families. They don't want to be here an extra week waiting for a parade, and I don't blame them.
Extra week?
They have to pack out of their homes and apartments, anyway. At least go back for their lucky beard trimmer, their car if they have one here, a jug of maple syrup for Aunt Ellie and a couple of cases of Trillium to go.
When you consider that game 6 and 7 would have been at Fenway anyway (e.g. they were scheduled to work Tuesday and Wednesday), it isn't exactly an unexpected burden to return and gather your stuff.
Homeward bound
Baseball season is over, and all the players are ready to go back to their permanent homes. How long should we make them 'sit around' here just to accommodate a parade?
2013 parade was on a Saturday
BUT, the final game (#6) was on Wednesday that year. If this year's series had gone to 6 or 7 games, we might be having a Saturday parade.

Source - was in town for a job interview and stayed many long hours in full interview garb in the cold waiting for them to arrive. I remember the area smelling like pee because drunk college students had no class (literally and figuratively.)

The '68-'69 Celtics were the first. The Celtics had epic victory rallies at Boston City Hall Plaza. The Red Sox have had rallies at BCHP too. Heck, they even had a BCHP rally in '86. It was billed as an appreciation party
