Lights out on West 1st Street

Lamps used as space savers in South Boston

Look at all that snow! Eileen Murphy ran across these faux French-provincial space savers on West 1st between E and F this evening, should you need something for your living-room end tables.

Shines a whole new light on the parking problems in South Boston. Space savers with a touch of elegance.

There's an awful lot of space between those two lamps. Maybe the lamps are to light up the actual space saver---something more mundane like a traffic cone---which will be placed in the middle when snow really does come. Sort of the space saver version of airport runway lights.

That's some serious shade.

Just goes to show the mentality of people who use space savers. One would think they would want to use something that doesn't attract quite so much attention but still gets the message across, like a trash barrel. Unless these morons are really trying to make a statement like "I dare you to park here or do anything about this", which is even worse. What an unusual subculture these space saver people are.

That's a bright new take.

What the hell... are they space saving for a bus?

Anyhow, it behooves the city to not just pick those up on trash day. Should stake that shit out and arrest the offender and sentence them to at least a few months of prison and revoke their driving license.

And community service at IKEA.

If those lamps are any indication, I would imagine plastic slipcovers on the couch, and gold-plated bathroom fixtures.

It is supposed to be called GLAMPING and not LAMPING. It involves camping out, but generally doesn't require lamps and is supposed to take place in relatively uninhabited places.

I hope its not lamping, because that involves shotguns.
