‪Hopefully this man is ok, but at least he can rest easy knowing he still didn’t have nearly as bad of a day as Donald Trump.‬

It's like Massachusetts drivers and the Trump administration are in a competition to see who can get arrested the most.

Some people will do anything to get of Dodge (Boston) on a Friday Afternoon, New twist to a Lyft Ride.

So according to NBC 10, the guy who pulled in front of them and started pointing a gun in everyone's face wasn't a cop, but just a civilian? And the State Police released him?

A civilian should not be allowed to point a gun in someone else's face, no matter the circumstance.

If some nutcase was trying to inflict potentially mortal harm to you I think you'd be happy if a lawfully armed civilian pointed a gun at the nutcase to make them stop until the police arrived to haul the nutcase off to the looney bin.

In that situation I'm confident that the use of my own (left or right) arm, rather than somebody else's use of a firearm, would be more than adequate to ensure my safety.

But the gunman is obviously lacking confidence in his own physical strength and, like a lot of people, has to resort to the use of a weapon to protect himself and/or make himself feel like a tough guy. Very sad. Much as I hate him, I guess Piers Morgan is right about the ongoing emasculation of society.

...about the car already being stopped?

The good samaritan is fully licensed to carry firearms and has every right to use his gun to stop a life-threatening assault and battery by dangerous weapon. Good for him for stepping in and stopping the threat. We've all heard of cases where onlookers do nothing. Thankfully, this wasn't one of them. The elderly man on the hood credited the gunman with saving his life.

As for the RMV yanking the license of a driver who is an "immediate threat," that is one of the few things they do efficiently. Every sworn police officer may fill out a simple form and email or fax it to the RMV for quick action. This is usually used when an elderly driver and "pedal error" combine to take out a storefront but can also be used when a person does 70 mph for three miles down the Pike with a person on the hood. Based on the video, this guy should be revoked for life.

blocking the car's path, the vehicle belonging to the "good Samaritan" included. This guy's use of a weapon did absolutely nothing to improve anyone's safety.

Comments like these are why people seriously doubt your supposed cop cred.

I somehow completely missed that the Parable of the Good Samaritan involved the use of potentially deadly force.

Yeah, in the video he doesn't even look like he knows what he's doing. Some dude is willing to drive 70mph with an older gentleman on the hood of his car, and now you're bringing a gun close to him and escalating? Unwise.

Hood ornaments used to be so much better on the older cars.

70 on the Pike in Weston on a Friday afternoon?

It is very unlikely that either of them will lose their license to drive over this bullshit.

The Massachusetts rmv doesn't take licenses away from dangerous criminals. But they sure do love to give them licenses!

Why would the person on the hood lose their license?

Ask yourself: what was he doing when he blocked the other vehicle and then exited his vehicle and jumped on that hood?

That's your answer. He committed road rage, too. Getting out of your car and jumping on the hood of another car is also road rage.

I mean, say some idiot in an SUV almost took you out while you were cycling to/from work and you did the thing you once noted you would do- administer u-lock justice on the car (I don't believe you ever noted personal harm, just a love tap to the vehicle?) Should you lose your license for that? Technically, that would be just as much road rage as the TJ Hooker wannabe's actions in this case.

When he left the car, he stopped being a driver. I'm not going to say that no charges are warranted, but he committed no motor vehicle violations.

Just read the story.

And the State Police release, and saw the story on WBZ-TV, and read the Globe and Herald. Hood guy is charged with a non-motor vehicle infraction. Guy in car is charged with several motor vehicle related infractions.

But please explain what he did that merits his loss of license. The closest you get is causing an accident, but I don’t quite see proof of that anywhere.

We don't know the whole story. Maybe Fitzgerald was trying to leave the scene and Kamrowski was trying to prevent him... but Fitzgerald wouldn't stop and tried to run over K. Who really knows?

This whole thing is just weird, especially with the guy with a gun. What's happening to this state? Usually you expect to see stuff like this and car chases in places like Florida or California.

But I don't see how the T.J. Hooker impersonator would get any moving violation related sanction, since he was not driving when he did anything he was accused of.

The RMV suspends and revokes licenses all the time. As proof, you might notice from time to time someone getting arrested for some motor vehicle shenanigans and one of the charges is "driving on a suspended (or revoked) license." You can get a suspension for getting too many moving violations in a short period of time.

It doesn't require using your vehicle with a weapon.

It requires starting an angry fight over traffic. This jackass jumped on the hood of a car and tried to break the windshield because he was jacked up over who the hell knows what.

Road rage. Pure and simple ROAD RAGE.

Your opinion about road rage isn't mean jack shit - the law is the law. Start a fight in traffic over traffic and that is road rage.

Here's an example. Let's say I am starting to walk across the street on a crosswalk at an intersection with a stop sign and a car doesn't stop at the stop sign and almost hit me. I in turn smack the window of the car when it is going by. The driver stops and gets out of the car and has words with me. Things escalate and eventually I am in front of his car refusing to get out of the way because I want his info because I want to submit a complaint to the police. He starts to drive off and I hop on the hood. That is road rage, but to be clear, it is my reaction to the idiot driver that is the origin of the road rage. At the end of the day, I would be charged with disorderly conduct, like the guy you call a jackass. The only difference is that I did not have a motor vehicle.

And yes, as a pedestrian, I have on several occasions hit the side of vehicles that have run stop signs (and lights) while I was crossing streets.

Also, the report, which Adam linked to on Friday, notes why the guy was jacked up. The other guy sideswiped his car, at least in his eyes. Kind of tough to keep too calm when someone smashes into your car.

Kind of tough? Perhaps. But in the world of grown ups this is called being a grown up.

Are you going to raise your kids with built in excuses for acting like a jackass or rapist? I hope not.

Oh, but it's okay to attack women when your hormones are too excited by them being around you, you poor boy!

You're not making good choices if you end up on the hood of a car during your evening commute.

Just to be clear, I hope the book is thrown at the other driver.
