Looks like somebody thinks a building at Harvard needs to be renamed

Sackler Building at Harvard with new, temporary name

Ray noticed a new, if temporary, name for Harvard's Arthur M. Sackler Building, named for the donor and patriarch of the Sackler family, which owns Purdue Pharma, maker of OxyContin.

The family trust announced yesterday it would stop donating to art museums because of protests over the family role in pushing the drug. Some of those protests have been at Harvard.

Yeah, no shit. How is it one of the biggest pushers on the planet doesn't get arrested ? He made a lot of doctors rich and a lot of addicts worse and die. I mean hell, if they can arrest Frank Lucas they way they did back during the U. S. Crack Epidemic why can't they throw this piece of shit away in a cell?

Sackler himself died in 1987.

Oh, so nobody is running the company since 1987? Arrest them or that person!

"They made a lot of people rich."

why not also penalize the people or companies that invented benzodiazapines

another drug designed to be addictive

impact of opioids on this country. The Sacklers are effectively guilty of murdering hundreds of thousands of Americans and destroying their families in the name of greed.

They should all be thrown in a deep, dark hole for the rest of their lives.

Now this is a name change I can get 110% behind without ANY hesitation at all.

I know far too many people who have been destroyed by Oxycotin

A name change! now that'll make us all feel good about ourselves!

...or do you have to practice?

Of course it's nothing to do with anger and grief over losing loved ones to addiction. No, no, it's all about "feeling good about ourselves".

You're a real jerk.

The Sackler Museum was merged with the Fogg and Busch-Reisinger to form the Harvard Art Museum.

Post fixed.

Good. Now they can change the name appropriately.

History lesson: Arthur M. Sackler died in 1987, while Oxycontin hit the market in 1996.

Yeah, Ol' Man Sackler himself died before OxyContin became A Thing, but the Sackler family, at least until yesterday, was doling out large amounts of money to get things named after him.

From what I can tell though, this particular building was commissioned by the old man himself in 1985. Source: https://www.harvardartmuseums.org/about/history-and-the-three-museums

A whole new entire generation of people by that same name went about systematically downplaying addictive capacity while strong arming the medical system to over prescribe.

You suck at research. You really do.

The prophet Mohammed founded Islam in 600 B.C.E.;
Mohammed Atta killed a lot of people in 2001; therefore
The name 'Mohammed' must be expunged from all buildings.

Your date for the founding of Islam is off by 1222 years. But other than that your research is great.

He wasn't a child of the prophet.

The sackler scum are the children of the namesake.

waiting to hold the Sackler family for eternity.
