They removed the bronze garbage this week, but are supposed to put it back

Missing art at Haymarket

As roving UHub photographer Mark J. shows us, most of the bronze garbage embedded in the road at Haymarket was removed as part of construction work for the Haymarket hotel now going up, but the BPDA assures us that Mags Harries's work, officially known as "Asarotron, 1976," will be put back down, if not in the exact same spot, once the hotel is finished.

It would probably be uncharitable to mention we've heard that sort of assurance before (whatever happened to the large Coke sign in Brighton, or public access to the observation deck at the Hancock?), and besides, the bronze garbage was removed during the Big Dig and it was put back again, so.

The public has no reason not to trust BPDA. Sure they've made "mistakes" before but given the fact they issued a statement saying it Will Never Happen Again surely we can trust them now.

Besides, that one crook resigned. It's only trustworthy, dedicated public servants now.

There's gotta be a warehouse, I'm thinking along the Southeast Expressway in Dorchester, that holds all of Boston's missing things - the Coke sign, Curley's desk, etc.

They say probably scrapped, but maybe someone with a big truck and several strong friends took it home.

I hear that somewhere in Auburndale there's a giant totem pole from Norumbega Park's Totem Pole ballroom that had to be cut in half to fit into someone's basement.

You never know.

According to this blog http://www.cryan.com/blog/20180524.jsp, the two Paul Pedini stole were returned, but the other two are at a restaurant in Saugus.
