Big dining news at Little Building

Emerson College announced today that a bakery and a taqueria will be moving into space in its newly renovated Little Building at Boylston and Tremont streets, and that it is currently negotiating leases with an Asian noodle place and a juice bar for the building.
Emerson said El Jefe, a taqueria with an outlet in Harvard Square, and the locally owned Tatte bakery chain, will soon be opening. El Jefe got the OK to try to obtain a beer and win license to go with its Mexican offerings.
Emerson added that Garbanzo Mediterranean Fresh will be moving into the Emerson-owned space on Boylston Street where Griddlers used to be, and that French Quarter, a "New Orleans French-style restaurant," will be setting up shop in the Emerson-owned space on Washington Street where Salvatore's used to be.

Another Tatte?
Tatte is taking over! Anyone else getting tired of seeing them on every corner? They’re becoming the next Cafe Nero/Starbucks, another bland option for people who crave familiarity over all else.

tired, and unimpressed with their offerings. All stores seem to have the same stuff every day, and the same stuff store to store. (Do they even 'bake' anything in house?)

This is good (and right next to where I work), but there are still way too many empty storefronts in that segment of Washington St. (And the long-empty Felt club.) Wish they could find some takers...

I don't think they're even looking for takers. My understanding is there are perverse tax incentives for large landlords to leave these spaces empty.

They should reopen the tunnel connecting the Little Building to Boylston station.
