Trustees of Reservations re-open many of their parks - but ask you don't drive to them
The Trustees of Reservations - which runs parks, nature preserves and community gardens in the Boston area - announced today that they have re-opened 76 of them, but are asking only people local to them use them, to comply with state social-distancing guidelines.
These are sites that did not experience overcrowding prior to the closures. We ask that you visit just those sites in your community and refrain from traveling to others, in alignment with the Governor's order.
They add:
If a parking area is full, please come back at a less busy time.
Also:
Other Trustees properties will remain closed until May 4. These are sites where a staff presence is required to prevent overcrowding or where town officials have requested that they stay closed. Gates and parking lots will be closed, and all are asked to respect these closures in order to help slow the spread of this serious virus. Sites with narrow trail systems are also being kept closed.
While agricultural operations continue, all Trustees farms will remain closed to visitors, except for curbside food pick up, to ensure the health and safety of essential agricultural staff and the food grown on these farms.

Maybe change your title, Adam
Very few people live within walking distance of Trustees properties, even if they're in their communities.
You can find a map here.
Some people can bicycle to them
This somewhat extends the range of people who can visit them without cars. For instance, I can bicycle from Somerville to DeCordova in Lincoln.
You could extend the range even further by taking a bike on an MBTA commuter train, but I do not recommend doing that right now.
Missing the point, Ron
Look at the title of the post.
Then look at what the Trustees actually said.
Then look at what I wrote.
Then look at what YOU wrote.
Parking lots open
The Trustees page says "If a parking area is full, please come back at a less busy time", which implies that you can still drive to these properties.
They came under a lot of criticism.
Good that they reconsidered. Maybe more properties will reopen as well.
Silly
So, if I'm living with someone and we get in the car together and drive to a park where we respect social distancing reqs for people we don't live with, how is that a problem?
Because too many other people
Because too many other people do the same thing, and social distancing becomes impossible.
The Trustees aren't asking that you "not drive to them".
The title of the post is misleading.
Does anyone know about the
Does anyone know about the status of the 56 Boston Community Gardens now managed by Trustees? I quick look at their website and facebook page provided no current information on those.

Their page lists them as 'open'

Ah, thanks, I'd missed line
Ah, thanks, I'd missed line #7!
The Berkeley Community Garden ...
... was open early to the public for 3 days till the Trustees shut all their properties. As of yesterday, it was open to members of that garden only.
I think you can still use the Boston Common.
Just try not to get shot :-(
I just walked across it.
It’s blissfully silent and only a few people strolling and enjoying the last half an hour before CURFEW.
There is a police car posted up by the monument.
No one in my neighborhood was
No one in my neighborhood was paying any attention to the Trustees. The park is still well used. Im wondering if that was a factor in them reopening some sites.
I would imagine that would
I would imagine that would makes sense.
We have contradictory statements coming from leadership. One is stay home stay home stay home. The other is go out and get some air once a day to keep sane.
The other issue is they say take a walk but then every entity that controls places people may walk decided they didn't want people there. All that is doing is squuezing people into smaller and smaller portions of land... That's why I've taken the opposite route and when I need to walk around or get space I've been going into the city lol. All my low use outdoor getaways are now jammed with people with no other place to walk.
