Citizen complaint of the day: A two-raccoon day in Jamaica Plain
By adamg on Fri, 02/05/2021 - 1:35pm
A citizen files a 311 complaint about a pair of raccoons in a tree off Pond Street in Jamaica Plain, although it's unclear if the resident is really complaining or just admiring them:

at least those racoons
are wearing masks.
Very hygienic!
They are known for washing their hands, too.
If they live on Pond Street
If they live on Pond Street then more than likely they are complaining.
As Wilber would say, adorable

elmer
adorable
Thanks!
I had that wrong. I miss Elmer.
"Rodent sighting"?
Reported as a "rodent sighting." Someone's confused.
That's a check box
I don't think they have a "sorta bear, kinda panda" box on the list.
I know that
I'm pretty familiar with BOS:311 - my husband jokes that I broke down and upgraded to a smartphone when they rolled out the app. They do have "other," though.
Given days the days in which we live ...
... probably sensible to reserve "Other" for less off-the-shelf sightings - Cthulhu rising from the depths of R'lyeh and whatnot.
We see Cthulhu on Morrissey Boulevard
after every storm.
ROUS
Not very big for racoons though. Probably adolescents.
311 for raccoons?
What's next? Pigeons seagulls and squirrels.
Those assholes
Another big one has been hanging out on my back porch again. I live on the 3rd floor; I don't keep garbage there so I've wondered what the hell they are coming up here for. However some of my neighbors are not so responsible with disposal of their trash so I guess the raccoons feel comfy climbing all around here. I usually just shoo them away with my broom. But some of those motherfuckers will look at you like you're crazy. I get mad - like you fucker, you don't pay rent here, get the fuck on. But I am nervous doing that because I don't want to get bitten so I stay back while swinging the broom...shit I don't want rabies.
