Yes, those were two fighter jets that just zoomed over the Boston area

The jets were part of the re-dedication of the Massachusetts Fallen Heroes memorial in the Seaport.

I was wondering what that was!
I commented to the other side of my conference call that I was pretty sure that a fighter jet just flew overhead. Nice to know I am not crazy.
Nothing like a senseless waste of taxpayer money
To fly over another of Marty Walsh’s signature accomplishments for upscale white people!
They Say No Rum Until The Sun Is Over The Yardam
Sounds like someone is already sailing off the coast of Spain already time wise.
Lets not ever spend money on
Lets not ever spend money on anything to commemorate or celebrate. We can all sit in a drab room and clap for 1.5 seconds.
Are we going to do this every
Are we going to do this every time there's a flyover? They are going to fly regardless of where they are flying. They are going to spend the same amount of time in the air regardless of where they are flying. That money is going to be spent on flying those planes regardless of where they are flying.
And if you don't like it, there are 3 members of Congress that directly represent you, give them a call and let them know how you feel they should be spending your money.
I have!
And they keep signing those blank checks to the military anyway!
I Guess You Must Have Slept It Off
Never change Brian. We need the Reveah Pseudo Marxist perspective to keep things lively here from time to time.
Senseless Waste?
The flyover by aircraft from the Mass Air National Guard is in honor of the fallen. There is a monument in that area to those Massachusetts residents who gave their lives in service to this country in Iraq and Afghanistan. It has absolutely nothing to do with "upscale white people."
Among other places that are honored and remembered by this is the National Cemetery in Bourne.
It's Memorial Day weekend. A time to remember and honor those who are no longer with us.
It's far from a waste of taxpayers money.
Always Remember.
Tell you what...
I'll honor the fallen of WW2. The last war we won and where we were attacked and not the cash registers that were Iraq and Afghanistan.
There’s a time for that
With regard to every military mission we should, without a doubt, check ourselves as a nation and ask ourselves, “are we doing the right thing?”
But Memorial Day is not about that. Memorial Day honors those who, for the most part, had absolutely no say in deciding upon the mission, and who knowingly placed themselves in harm’s way and paid the ultimate price, simply because we asked it of them.
By all means question the mission. But do it in the halls of Congress, not at the soldiers’ burial ground.
I have nothing but respect
for the men and women that believed in the lie they were told. I'm disgusted that they died for a patriotism long usurped by greed.
You aren’t wrong
At the core you aren’t wrong. But maybe saying it at a memorial service, to the grieving parents of a soldier killed in action, isn’t the right time or place for your message.
This is
a forum for opinions, Not a memorial service.
This is….
Actually, what this is, is Memorial Day weekend. For a hint as to what the holiday represents, look into its name.
You and I are probably on the same side of many debates about America’s foreign and military policy, but you’re being a dick at the moment, which is not particularly helpful or effective.
Thank you!
Forgive me if I don’t subscribe to the falling on my knees in gratification because I recall when the group think was that anyone who dons a military uniform should be deified.
And like I said, I have nothing but respect for the fallen who has their patriotism used for nothing and the loved ones they left behind.
Let’s also forget that a visit to any VA hospital will tell you how much respect living veterans get the other 364 days of the year.
So, yeah, I’m a dick.
They need flying hours anyway
They need flying hours anyway. They are commemorating their fallen fellow military people. Also quite frankly some of us just like watching cool planes fly overhead, I wish I had noticed I would have went out to check it out! My timeline is filled with pictures of the planes.
Hating everything all the time isn't good for you.
A man needs to fill his hours....
waiting for the next pity check from his brother to arrive
Awww....
A Mincel!
Need flying hours for what?
Dogfights with MIGS over the Seaport? Do we even need fighter jets with what drones can do?
I could see that happening
I could see that happening with Vladimir Putin in charge of Russia. He wants to destroy us and has no soul.
I was today years old when I learned that Marty Walsh
allowed a memorial to 650,000 American war dead as a favor to upscale white people. I really need to get better at understanding pointless political rage.
I think he's talking about the Seaport District
And let's be thankful Tom Menino isn't around to see that Walsh is getting credit for his signature accomplishment.
Remember when St. Thomas of Readville wanted to move City Hall to around where the ICA is?
Helicopters over Codman Square
Are we sure that these jets are ceremonial and not due to something more sinister?
Helicopters have been circling over Codman Square since around noon. It's 12:22 now.
Those might be news copters
For the murder on Park Street.
