Credit union asks customers to put on masks before coming in
By adamg on Tue, 08/17/2021 - 12:23pm
Metro Credit Union, which has 14 locations in the Boston area has started asking members to put masks on again during visits. CEO Robert Cashman told members today it's not a requirement, but a really strong ask:
With the recent news and updates regarding COVID-19 and associated Delta Variant, I am asking for your cooperation as we reinforce the need for mask coverings and social distancing in all our branches regardless of your vaccination status.

an irksome holdover from the Trump years
capitalization of words for emphasis has entered the lexicon and it may be more annoying than anything else the orange man did
Does that not depend on how
Does that not depend on how we refer to the variant?
When used in the news in this way is the Delta Variant not a proper noun at this point? It seems to be mustering its own headlines. I would be more inclined to refer to the beta variant in lower case because it is not really known on its own accord.
this is a fair point
still, it doesn’t look right to my eye. “Delta variant” is the most common form i’ve seen around the web fwiw.
Much older than that
Long before Trump did it, it was common. Engineers have been fond of it forever. I'm not even sure capitalizing Delta Variant is an error.
Capitalizing Delta is appropriate
Capitalizing variant isn't.
London Bridge
London Bridge
Charles River
Swiss Alps
As English is a Germanic Language
Capitalizing any Noun would be correct.
Germanic ≠ German
Germanic ≠ German
As is Dutch
Danish, Swedish, and Norwegian.
yeah
i probably wouldn’t even have thought to comment had only Delta been capitalized.
fwiw though, even if you disagree with this particular example you must be familiar with the trend i’m referring to.
Familiar with the trend...
But I honestly don't think this is an example of it, 'We are up BIG, but they are trying to STEAL the election!' is what I think of when I think of erroneous capitalization used for emphasis.
oh don’t make me relive this
but he did it all the time. think of things he would tweet about like
“…and it was based on a Fraudulent Dossier”
or “Remember, we are the Party of Law & Order”
or “The Do-Nothing Democrats cannot be allowed to steal the Election. Take back our Country!”
Delta Var
What's that protein you got thar?
Could it be a way to evade immunity?
And now I'm here to say
You better vaccinate today
'Cause viruses don't care what you believe!
Superior piece of work
BTW Helen Reddy died last year. Delta Dawn was a successful pop hit, but "I am Woman" was an anthem for the 1970's women's movement. We still have a long way to go, but most people today have no idea how bad things were back then. My wife was a science teacher in a highly-rated public school system. The manly supervisor stated unequivocally that "girls" could not grasp the hard sciences as well as the "boys", as students or as teachers.
Word mechanics
Can we please stop with this. Its annoying AF and really takes away from people's arguments.
It will always be Delta Variant, capital D and V.. because, you know, she had alot of variants in her career.
I have to admit I was so
I have to admit I was so excited when my category phase was announced Ok to get vaccine, I immediately got it. Then got second shot after that. After the second shot I felt such a relief. But was still skeptical of taking mask off. Now I"m glad I still wear it on train every day, and in supermarket, and other situations and places in public because of this bleeping mutation of C19. Not just that it also hides my hangover face.
Here's the data behind their
Here's the data behind their very wise decision at the MWRA website. This is the one I keep my eye on:
