Hey bootlickers, this is where the defund sentiment comes from.
When my wife was hit in a
When my wife was hit in a crosswalk the cops wouldn’t even consider giving the driver a ticket. They think it’s perfectly fine for drivers to hit pedestrians whenever they feel like it.
Jesus, dude
You buried the lede so deep, it resurfaced somewhere in the South Pacific.
This explains your years-long tirades. Wow, man. I hope she's healthy.
Yeah, they don't write a
Yeah, they don't write a ticket - because it's too serious for a "mail in the fine and forget about it" and it's not left up to them.
They issue a summons to court - mandatory appearance. The court decides which citations to issue on that, not the police.
Shut up Will
Someone died, take your hot takes elsewhere.
Awww
Did I disrupt your state abuse fantasy? You poor thing.
Mr. LaTulippe
if you only knew how ridiculous that statement is you wouldn't have said it.

as much as we all like to disagree with Mr. Latulippe
im not sure that he’s ben shapiro here
Maybe it was a little too subtle of a reference
But it was a jab at the bit where Will thought I wasn't in the camp of defunding the police.
Ben accused Andrew Neil, noted conservative from what I understand, of being a leftist.
i’ve seen the interview
but idk, i also think people can walk and chew gum
Yeah thats fair
...
Someone died.
And it’s related to what he said.
I’m beginning to feel the pointlessness of my own sympathy after the other recent driver caused death. It’s about as useless as prayers and just feels like oily virtue signaling.
Will's bootlicker comment is related?
Its just not necessary.
This is coming from someone who lives in Brighton, rides/walks through here every week and knows people directly impacted by this tragedy.
And I'm someone thats been very vocal on UHUB about road violence and BPDs lack of dealing it, to the point that I believe I've been called "anti-car", so split hairs all you want.
Shut up, Spin-o-Rama. Will's
Shut up, Spin-o-Rama. Will's comment is 100% relevant in this case. This is obviously a known problem spot, just like the intersection of Birmingham and Western. The fact that the city lets known problem spots sit untouched for decades is part of the reason people get killed by cars in Boston.
Spare me
You've been around UHub long enough to know where I stand on road violence and BPDs lack of holding motorists accountable, among other things.
And you know Will is a troll, I bite on his comment because this particular crash really hit close to home, figuratively and literally.
You aren't saying anything that I disagree with, weird to see you carrying water for Will.
Boston drivers are the
Boston drivers are the greatest danger to healthy vaccinated people. They will hit and kill you and then suffer no consequences and get behind the wheel again right after to potentially do it again.
Thank you for your thoughtful post
We always like to see a new perspective on issues. Please, continue to contribute your thoughts, they are greatly appreciated.
I bet the complaints will slow down a lot
When local drivers stop hitting people with their cars
Traffic enforcement is
Traffic enforcement is unpopular and affects maniac drivers disproportionately

Not that Mexico has great roads
But in Mexico, where I just spend a couple of days, they put *legit* speed bumps in high-pedestrian areas. Slow-down-to-5-mph-if-you-like-having-a-suspension legit. Imagine if we had that.

Boston Intersections
Boston should get rid of “pedestrian crossing button” and just have it automatically happen after every light cycle. I find myself at many intersections where I can only take a left or right and when my light turns green, the crossing light turns on for pedestrians. Makes no sense and it messes up the cycle from one block to the other so we’re going from red light to red light. There should be no pedestrians crossing when cars have a green light and the light should be red in all directions while pedestrians cross. Just my opinion.
It makes no sense when pedestrians have to ….
… wait at intersections for a walk light when there are no vehicles using the green light to make turns.
If you’re going to insist on traveling in a crowded space with a giant obtrusive noisy exhaust spewing potentially harmful exoskeleton, you’re just going to have to wait till there is room for you to move forward. Pedestrians take precedence over drivers by sheer numbers and because feet are preferred method of conveyance by city planners for many reasons that have been pointed out many times already in UHub posts.
Oh, and when it’s your turn to make those turns, use your blinkers and look before you hit the accelerator!!
Just looking for a solution
Just looking for a solution instead of whining on UHub.
No, you were whining.
You just resent that pedestrians have rights.
You don’t even want them to have a button to push. How about we take away your gas pedal instead.
All I said was it would be
All I said was it would be safe for all if everyone had their time to cross/go through an intersection. I don’t want them to have a button to push because they shouldn’t have to press a button, it should happen automatically. That is not resenting pedestrians. I get it, you (and everyone else on uHub) hate cars, but they’re not going anywhere. Like I said, looking for solutions that could work for both drivers and pedestrians. Have a good day.
No, that’s not what you said.
Have a nice day yourself.
the point is
that your comment came from a place that gives cars precedence to pedestrians, and that’s exactly the wrong attitude to have in a big city
Guys, there are cars on the
Guys, there are cars on the road.. in a city. People are still driving. That’s not going away while we still have crappy public transit. My comment came from a place that ensures there are no moving vehicles while people are crossing while ensuring that car traffic is also moving. Is that so bad?
Yes, it is so bad.
You don’t see it?
Get out from behind your wheel and try walking.
Your pretense at wanting to ensure pedestrian safety by further restricting pedestrians from moving about the city so that you don’t have to pay attention and can have exclusive rights to the road when making turns is wearing very thin.
You are the kind of driver that makes raised crosswalks and speed humps and traffic cameras necessary. That is the place you are coming from. Get over yourself.
I was just trying to come up
I was just trying to come up with a solution.
To suit your own personal need.
No sale.
Go scare some pedestrians now with your “solutions”.
Okay?
Okay?
The hell with red lights
We should have more rotaries and roundabouts instead.
I’m for those, too.
Safer for all if designed correctly. More efficient, in many cases, though not so much for those on foot. The diagonal crossings are best when every step causes pain. They are still very dangerous though.
Depends on what you want
Roundabouts are great for cars. They suck for pedestrians.
Roundabouts suck for car drivers and pedestrians alike!
Roundabouts suck for car drivers and pedestrians alike! Moreover, there are far too many of them here in the Boston area for comfort.
Roundabouts work great when
Roundabouts work great when they're well-maintained and properly painted and signed. They're much more efficient for a lot of intersections than stoplights or stop signs. Unfortunately, the requirements for maintenance and signage mean that the examples found in Boston are uniformly horrible.
Where are there actual
Where are there actual roundabouts in Boston?
In the area, yes - Braintree, Dedham, Belmont, maybe Cambridge....
In Boston, though... is there anything that's actually a roundabout and not some older rotary or other degree of "traffic circle"?
Where the roundabouts are
In and around the lake.
What can you say but
Yes!
Rotaries work if drivers know
Rotaries work if drivers know how to use them. LOL!
