The City that Only Mostly Sleeps: Morrissey Boulevard pizza place gets OK to stay open until 2 a.m.

The Boston Licensing Board today gave Puritan Pizza, 735 Morrissey Blvd. in Dorchester, approval to extend its closing time from the current 10 p.m. to 2 a.m.

The restaurant's owners said there was a public need for the later hours both in general and specifically because it's gotten requests for later hours from its delivery customers in South Boston and Quincy.

Plus it will give late night Boston Bowlers a place to eat other than the snack bar. Is the snack bar at Boston Bowl even open after 11:00 PM?

unless you want to take the risk of crossing Morrissey Blvd at a practically blind curve.

Have to go down to the footbridge, then around the shopping center

After you go over the foot bridge there is a narrow sidewalk that goes under the train bridge next to morrissey blvd.

That path is scary. It is inches away from 50+ mph traffic. There is a cement fence topped by a chain link fence to separate Morrisey traffic from the pedestrians, but it's still scary. I wouldn't walk there, and I have never seen anyone walk there, I think, for good reason.

And it is less scary than Jaywalking accross Morrisey.

@deselby While I respect the traffic on Morrisey Boulevard, I am a Bostonian and as a Bostonian I have a certain skill that most people around the country fear. I am an inveterate professional JAYWALKER! No streets are safe when I'm around.

LOL there is something about Bostonians. Every time I visit friends in another city they are physically grabbing me before I step off the curb.

This is our current favorite pizza in the neighborhood and this is the best news I've had this week!
