Could have seen that coming: Board approves new fortune-teller license near North Station

Mitchell

The Boston Licensing Board last week approved Niki Mitchell's application to tell fortunes at 205 Portland St. near North Station.

Angela's Psychic Readings is the first fortune-telling business to come before the board in years; past hearings did not always end well. In addition to palm and Tarot readings and "energy healings," Mitchell told the board she will also sell candles, incense oils, jewelry and, of course, crystals.

The board did not request proof of her ability to foretell the future, but did recommend that, as a one-person operation, she either post signs alerting people coming in to buy crystals or oils that she might not be available to sell stuff while she's reading palms or performing energy healings, or hire somebody to handle the retail trade.

The board made the recommendation at the request of the Downtown North Association, which represents North Station-area businesses. The group said it had no objections to the Mitchell's business, though.

Magoo is very ascared of fortune tellers. For they open doors that can’t always be closed. One time Magoo did an Ouija Board and a malevolent spook haunted Magoo for many moons because Magoo failed to close the shadow door that was opened. Magoo waged a spiritual battle against the evil specter and Magoo finally found relief from the shaman of shelah and Magoo has walked the path ever since. Magoo.

While I agree that this is all hokum, I bet this woman actually believes she can see things that others can't. I have a friend who is otherwise 100% normal, who truly believes that she can sense spirits and such.

I've met a number of people who will swear up and down that they've repeatedly seen ghosts, or can see auras. Most of them are level-headed, intelligent, and truthful people; I have every reason to believe that they experienced *something* strange, even if we disagree on interpretation. Obviously they're not likely to say it publicly because they're concerned about their reputation.
