Citizen complaint of the day: Perpetual-motion ticketing on one Mattapan street

A concerned citizen files a 311 complaint about the situation on Itasca Street, where neither residents nor the city's BTD ticketing crew seem to know just which side of the street is OK to park on on street-sweeping days:

2 weeks in a row, the city has ticketed the WRONG side of the street. Today is street cleaning for the even side, as stated on the website and street signs. People who parked on the correct side got ticketed, and as a result, the majority of people parked on the opposite side of the street that got ticketed. Today, my brother stopped them in time to correct the guy before ticketing a car on the correct side. Due to the confusion and repetition 2 weeks in a row, this is highly likely to happen again, and people might park on the wrong side to avoid tickets. However, this needs to be corrected. If they ticket, it has to be the correct side scheduled, not the side where the majority of cars are. Sadly, the majority of cars are on the wrong side due to the city's mistake last week.

should be forgiven by simply taking a picture of the street cleaning parking restriction sign, which tells you the even or odd day, and the date on the ticket itself.
That said, some areas tow cars on street cleaning days.
A car can only be towed if there's a ticket on it first.
There's the bigger problem.
Suppose you get a ticket while you were parked correctly, but the tow truck warriors are cruising the area and you get towed. Now you have the trouble of having to go to the tow yard and pay that fee. Legally, the city should reimburse you for that tow fee because it stemmed from the BTD error, but good luck with that.

ticketing and towing is the biggest City run scam developed by the late Mayor Menino to reward the hack companies who donated thousands of dollars to his campaign. He’s been long gone and this shake down still continues.

I didn't know Menino was the permanent mayor from early times.

I mean, he may have had you convinced that he invented all the good ideas, but that doesn't mean he was mayor for the past 40 years.

This particular situation is ridiculous and sucks for the people in the area and needs to be addressed. However, if you want free storage for your large hunk of personal property on public land, you generally need to follow the rules.

It takes a lot to make me feel sympathy for people complaining about parking but this did. That must be wicked infuriating.

In my neighborhood they ticket and then come an hour after the set time.
