Boston Police report a detail cop at Tremont and Northampton streets who went to investigate when he heard two teens arguing arrested one for the gun loaded with two bullets police say he had in his hoodie pocket.

According to police, the argument started shortly after noon on Thursday, getting the cop's attention:

Continuing to investigate, the officer observed the suspect verbally threatening the victim while reaching into his front hooded pocket. Upon seeing this, the victim fled the area. The officer managed to detain the suspect, who resisted and was subsequently handcuffed. A pat frisk led to the discovery of a firearm inside the suspect’s hooded sweatshirt pocket, later identified as a Davis Industries Model 0 .22 caliber firearm loaded with two rounds of ammunition.

The teen, too young to have his name released, was charged with being delinquent for assault with a dangerous weapon, illegal possession of a firearm and illegal possession of ammunition, police say.

And it'll make you just as dead as an AR-15.

That's what the villainous gambler would pull from his vest when he got caught cheating in poker. It'll still kill you just as dead though.

The assault charge for putting his hand in his pocket seems like a bit of a reach.

Yeah, you quoted the same thing I did, minus the part about charging him with assault instead of threatening or intimidation.

Assault is the legal term for threatening somebody, to make somebody fear they're about to be attacked.

Maybe you're thinking of battery, which is when the victim is physically attacked (by a punch or gunshot, say).

OK, thanks. I was thinking of the common definitions of the verbs assault: "make a physical attack on" and threaten "express one's intention to harm or kill (someone)". So I figured he would have to at least brandish a weapon for it to be an assault.

One of my buddies had a perfect reproduction of one of these back in high school. He never threatened anybody with it but he did show it around. It wasn't actually perfect though: The barrels were blocked in the middle. Everybody thought it was real.

That sounds like a starter's pistol. Those looked a lot like this but with solid barrels and they were modified to take blanks.

Nope, not that.
It would have worked with those rounds @SwirlyGrrl. Not a starter, a Derringer.

This is way off-topic but at my high-school...
There were only three of us there. Sorry for being so obtuse but one of the triumvirate has passed away and I'm estranged from the other.TMI. I think we'll get back in contact after I move to Milton.

What do you call someone from Milton MA?
