311 complaint of the day: I don't care if it's frozen in place because of the rain, the driver should never have parked it there
By adamg on Sat, 09/21/2024 - 12:17pm
A peeved resident filed a 311 complaint this morning about this 1980s-era computer graphic illegally parked in a No Standing zone at Soldiers Field Road and Soldiers Field Place in Brighton.

It looks like something out of the movie "Tron".

Yeah, that's the best nickname I've heard for it so far.

More like the TV version of "Logan's Run."
Parking tickets
Parking tickets should be proportional to the cost of the vehicle.
Since that's how excise tax works, why not other traffic infractions?
Ugliness surtax
I would suggest that there be a surtax based on the ugliness of the vehicle, but it could get ugly.
The city will reply to this
The city will reply to this in 2 weeks saying “area clear.”
People get confused
311 is for chronic problems, while 911 is for immediate problems. A single illegally parked car should probably merit a 911 call. That cars are always parked in this illegal space is worthy of a 311 ticket to that BTD can see the need to send out people to ticket.
Please do NOT call 911 to report an illegally parked car
Unless it's illegally parked in a way the presents an active danger to people (not sure what that would be, but worth the caveat).
That is very much not what 911 is for.
Incorrect
I once had to call the police regarding a parked car problem; as I recall I scrounged up a non-Emergency number for BPD and they instructed me to call 911.
This varies from jurisdiction to jurisdiction, but in Boston parked cars are indeed a 911 appropriate call.
Chelsealand
Same in Chelsealand.
Been told repeatedly to call 911 for illegally parked cars.
And yes like you, I called non-emergency first and got scolded.
And this is more noteworthy
And this is more noteworthy than any other illegally parked vehicle in the city?
Tesla is owned by Musk
Musk is now deemed a non believer and must be shunned in every aspect of life.
Get on board ....lol
this would make way more sense
if Adam didn't routinely post 311 calls
but i get it, the persecution complex must be satisfied
I can remember a time when Musk
didn't seem like an utterly horrible human being, but that moment has passed. People who still defend him at this point are like Trumpies: there's obviously something broken in them, starting with their moral compass.
It's noteworthy to Adam

this 1980s-era computer
Ah, so your bias applies to illegal parking as well, eh Adam.
Yes, it's true
I can't stand CGA graphics; it's at least EGA for me or forget it.
I still thinks it looks like
I still thinks it looks like something a Cub Scout would have made for the Pinewood Derby; Provided the Cub Scout had no wood whittling skills.

Also, cybertruck looks like complete ass. im expressing myself. do not attack me.
Bet you drive a
Subaru.
Okay Anon
Please name something this cybertruck can do that a Subaru can't for 1/2 to 1/3 the cost? (aside from the electric vs. ICE ... but then again Subaru has one of those available now).
Bet you drive a
F-150 with NH plates, truck nuts, fake bullet hole stickers and stickers that say “My kid beat up your honor roll student” and “Keep honking, I’m reloading!”
Ooooh
I bet you thought that was really gonna sting.
(but then, I bet you think a lot of other really stupid and blatantly incorrect things)
What it represents
If some hobbyist made a car like that I'd think it was pretty cool, TBH.
But it's not a neat prototype but rather an expensive toy from a horrible company led by a horrible person. That's what I see when one speeds by or parks illegally.
as an aside
can we quit with the "ah, yes" opening? it's incredibly hackneyed at this point
?
Um, sure.
