Early morning Theater District melee ends with gunfire; one arrested, nobody shot, police say

Boston Police report arresting a Malden man on charges he fired a gun repeatedly inside a Theater District garage early this morning.

Police say officers responding to a report of a large fight shortly on Warrenton shortly before 3 a.m. were diverted to the Tufts garage at 270 Tremont St. on a report of gunfire there.

Officers were provided a description of a fleeing vehicle that was now parked outside of the parking garage. Officers were able to locate the vehicle and observed that the front passenger side door was open.

Officers made contact with the occupants and requested them to exit the vehicle. As the passenger exited the vehicle, he immediately fled the area and a foot pursuit ensued. Officers observed the suspect throw a firearm before slipping and falling. Officers were able to quickly place the suspect into handcuffs.

Officers returned to the vehicle and conducted a pat frisk. Officers recovered a box of .22 caliber ammunition from inside the vehicle. The firearm was later determined to be a DB9 Diamondback with one round in the chamber and two rounds in the magazine.

Police add officers found "multiple spent shell casings" inside the garage. Nobody was reported hit by any of the bullets

Davon Olaes, 36, of Malden, was charged with illegal possession of a fiream, illegal possession of ammunition, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling and two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon.

Nah @Grant Gould. The old Combat Zone was more of a mugging/stabbing kind of place. Gunfire was more a Summer Street type thing. Watch this video: https://youtu.be/4Z0CkHS1f4w It's 38 minutes and yes it does mention the Chinatown Massacre but this was the first.

Guns aren't toys. Hopefully this guy doesn't get off with just a slap on the wrist.
