Alleged South Boston Grinch captured with packages if not bows this morning, police say

Boston Police report a keen-eyed cadet working with C-6 officers "spreading holiday cheer" by delivering toys to deserving South Boston kids this morning spotted somebody who seemed to be a bit weighted down with packages - specifically, a woman who already had "notoriety among concerned locals" as a package thief.

Police say officers stopped Kerri Flynn, 34, of South Boston, and found her in possession of "two bags stuffed with unopened packages." Police did not specify if that included one last can of Who-hash, but said it was enough to arrest her for receiving stolen property - even before officers queried a criminal database and found she had "several outstanding warrants for her arrest on charges of shoplifting and receiving stolen property."

Flynn was arraigned in South Boston Municipal Court. Judge Steven Key ordered her released her on personal recognizance on the South Boston charge of receiving stolen property - but she will not be carving any roast beast because Key also ordered her sent to the Suffolk County jail on one of those warrants, out of Suffolk Superior Court, court records show.

Key also ordered her to undergo evaluation for mental-health or substance-abuse problems.

Innocent, etc.

I've heard of K-9 Units, is a C-6 officer... feline?

Sorry, should've defined that. C-6 is the district that covers South Boston (and Columbia Point). BPD divides the city into five areas, each of which has two or three districts (so Area C also has District C-11, which is most of Dorchester).

"Wait, he just *released* her again? Oh. No, she just ended up in a different jail."
