Not art, BTD determines
By adamg on Fri, 01/10/2025 - 3:44pm
There's an art installation of what looks like a satellite crashed into the hood of an Altima parked on Washington Street in Downtown Crossing (not to be confused with one of the art installations that look like giant pink blobby guys). Of course, you're not supposed to park on Washington Street in Downtown Crossing, even if a satellite just crashed into you car, so somebody at BTD wrote it a ticket.

NOT ART.
NOT ART.
It’s not even part of the solipsistic “NOT ART” graffiti campaign.
Will they get another ticket for littering ...
When they set it on the sidewalk and drive off?
A parking ticket on an art installation
Is entirely on-point for Boston. It'd be even better if BTD keeps putting additional tickets on the windshield or perhaps a boot.
As someone on reddit said
It really adds to the installation. A+ for collaborative art.
It could only be more appropriate to Boston
If that satellite were plunked down in a half-shoveled parking space.
(And FWIW that would really be a SPACE saver.)
It would make a great space saver next time it snows
Oh ya! Let's get this party started.
Who says it's an art installation?
Some person on Reddit says it's art. No further info or links. I say it's not art.
Furthermore it seems perfectly logical that a satellite would hit a car. Who says it is not?
Speaking of not art
And while we're at it with public art that is not art, those strange animal head things that were up around DTX for the holidays were the most un-Christmas-y or un-festive-y looking things I've ever seen.
Ticket is part of the exhibit
Article in the Boston Globe says:
I saw them setting that up on Thursday
They intentionally put a ticket on it as they were unloading the space junk.
