Early morning argument in the Leather District ends with car-to-car gunfire and one arrest, police say

Boston Police report arresting a Roxbury man following a series of incidents that started with an argument on Lincoln Street near Beach Street early Saturday.

Police say officers responded to Lincoln Street around 2:20 a.m. to find about 30 people "causing a disturbance."

As Officers began to disperse the group, two groups of individuals could be seen arguing with one another outside of their gray vehicles. Officers were eventually able to separate both parties and remove them from the area. The groups returned to their vehicles and the officers began walking back to their cruisers.

While walking back to their cruisers, Officers heard eight (8) to ten (10) gunshots. As Officers ran to the sound of the gunfire, they observed two gray sedans driving on Kingston Street and entering onto I-93 North. Officers simultaneously broadcasted this information to responding units and to the Massachusetts State Police along with the license plate information of the vehicle. Additional responding units located ballistic evidence, as well as ballistic damage to a building in the area of Kingston Street and Bedford Street.

Police say a state trooper found and stopped one of the cars on the Mass. Ave. Connector. Arriving BPD officers found the car had been shot. They also found that occupant Leon Edmonds, 23, of Roxbury, was carrying a Taurus 9-mm gun loaded with six bullets.

Edmunds was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, possession of a loaded firearm and possession of a large-capacity feeding device, police say.
