Carjacking crash in Dorchester

State Police report: on an incident in Dorchester this morning:

Trooper in Dorchester just spotted vehicle involved in carjacking several days ago. Suspect driving it today was wearing ski mask and sunglasses. Suspect refused to stop, crashed into 3 other cars & tried to run, but was caught & in custody, Morrissey at Freeport.

Firefighters in Ramada Inn

Firefighters responded to the Ramada Inn, 800 Morrissey Boulevard, for a fire on the second floor around 11:30 a.m., the day after a fire broke out on the second floor there. The Boston Fire Department reports the fire, contained to one room, caused no injuries.

The Boston Fire Department reports firefighters responded to the Ramada Inn, 800 Morrissey Blvd. in Dorchester, around 2:50 p.m. for a fire on the second floor. Read more.

The Massachusetts Appeals Court ruled today that Boston police officers did nothing wrong when they searched a man walking through Dorchester's Clam Point early one morning right after a nearby gas station had been robbed at gunpoint, so prosecutors can use the gun the officers found in his backpack as evidence against him. Marijuana, edibles, fentanyl and cash

Boston Police report an investigation into drug dealing at the Ramada Inn on Morrissey Boulevard ended with the arrest of a Randolph man Friday afternoon and the seizure the next day of "1,124 fentanyl pills, 40 large bags of marijuana, 3 bags of packaged marijuana edibles as well as $10,643 in U.S. Currency." The Zoning Board of Appeal today approved a developer's plans to replace the Freeport Tavern on Morrissey Boulevard with 219 apartments - some 110 of them the studios the developer says all the kids these days are clamoring for. Read more.

DCR is advising that high tides between Thursday and next Wednesday could force shutdowns of Morrissey Boulevard as Mother Nature reminds us what happens when you literally build roads at sea level.

The Dorchester Reporter reports DCR has Jersey-barriered a pebbly stretch of the shoreline along Dorchester Bay off Morrissey Boulevard because too many of the people using it to launch small boats and Jet Skis were failing to observe basic Covid-19 social-distancing requirements and because too many people were using it as a place to drink and weren't cleaning up after themselves.

The Dorchester Reporter alerts us that Boston Bowl on Morrissey Boulevard is once again open for kegling, now that Boston is in Phase 3 of Covid-19 re-opening, but says it's now only open until midnight and weeknights and 1 a.m. on weekend nights. Also, every other lane is shut and the billiards and arcade rooms remain closed.

Morrissey Boulevard early this afternoon at high tide

For some reason, Morrissey Boulevard in Dorchester remained open in the middle of a rain storm at high tide early this afternoon, giving drivers the chance to experience the thrill of going out to sea - unless they were too timid and instead took the easy way out by driving on the sidewalk near Malibu Beach, as Timmy shows us.
