Via I-93, WBZ reports.

The kid was ordered held in lieu of $100,000 bail at his arraignment in Boston Juvenile Court today on charges of receiving a stolen motor vehicle, leaving the scene of an accident causing property damage, trespass, unlicensed operation, negligent operation and failure to stop for police, as well as three counts of assault with a dangerous weapon, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports. The assault-and-battery counts are because he alleged drove the SUV right at three Boston police officers before he crashed, the DA's office says, adding:

Those officers were able to jump out of the vehicle’s path and were not struck.

The BRA board this week gave its nod to $75 million worth of development along Melnea Cass Boulevard.

The BRA board approved a 76-apartment proposal for Melnea Cass near Tremont Street. Madison Park Development Corp. will spend $37 million to erect the five-story building, which the BRA says will help turn Melnea Cass into a neighborhood street, rather than remaining as a bypass left over from the days when it was planned as part of an Interstate highway. Madison Park Village proposal

Architect's rendering of proposed Madison Park Village building

The Madison Park Development Corp. has filed plans to build 76 affordable apartments - 14 of them townhouse duplexes - in two buildings on Melnea Cass Boulevard near where it meets Tremont Street.

The proposal, which would include tearing down an existing one-story community center on Raynor Circle, would add 37 parking spaces, in part by moving part of Brooke Marshall Road, where the larger of the two buildings - 60 apartments across five floors - would be built. Read more.

An annoyed citizen complains:

These dirt biker gangs need to be off the streets. One was on I-93S just north of exit 18 and was blocking multiple lanes of traffic as well as impeding lane changes. They were driving slowly and performing dirt bike stunts. One of these idiots hit my car with something and left scuff marks and dents in it. It's about time we get a task force together to get rid of them. This doesn't happen anywhere else in this state that I've seen.

On Father's Day, a disgruntled citizen complains about a broken streetlight on Melnea Cass Boulevard:

My daughter was very excited when our broken light was fixed. On our Father's Day walk we went to see the repairs. As you can see, nothing has been done. Please restore my 4 year old's faith in city government and her trust in her daddy.

The city Transportation Department holds a meeting Wednesday evening to discuss making Melnea Cass Boulevard more "pedestrian friendly" in plans that call for adding two extra traffic lanes to it. The hearing starts at 6 p.m. at the BWSC building on Melnea Cass.

Melnea Cass was built atop the bulldozed remains of the right of way for the I-695 Inner Belt - swaths of the neighborhood were destroyed before the highway was canceled (along with the I-95 extension from the south).

Miss Von Schtoop reads this Globe story about panhandling at Mass. Ave. and Melnea Cass Boulevard and finds it pretty funny, from the Bulwer-Lytton opening sentence to the lack of any mention of all the Boston Chargers kids who equally annoy motorists:

... They open the article with such a cheeseball line: "The call went out: "Yo, po-po!" and within seconds, the panhandlers who meander with regularity through the intersection of Massachusetts Avenue and Melnea Cass Boulevard near Boston Medical Center scattered to parts unknown." Really quite unforgivable writing.

Pretty soon someone there is going to start an article with the line "It was a dark and stormy night.." at which point we can just hire a few wreckers to tear down 135 Morrissey Boulevard because all hope will have been lost. ...

A fight at a Silver Line bus stop at Melnea Cass Boulevard and Washington Street around 4:30 p.m. yesterday ended with the stabbing death of one man: Yiovany Gazmey, 37.

Two people who fled on a bus were arrested: Juan Ramirez, 25, will be charged with murder, and 29-year-old Aida Rodriquez will be charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

The knife fight came less than a day after two teenagers were stabbed at the Roxbury Crossing T stop (both are expected to live).

Miss von Schtoop, who works in the area, reports traffic was an absolute mess and wonders if the two incidents were related:

... Hopefully it's not just random. I walk in that direction to go to work and one time I did see a very angry man waving a big kitchen knife. I crossed the street and wound up walking the rest of the way home with a neighbor. ...

Carpundit reports a new Dunkin' Donuts has opened near his office - which makes four within a one-block walk:

... If Dunkin' Donuts put a shop on every corner, that would be fine with me. I love the place. And it's good to have all those cops around. ...

John Daley, however, says he hopes the dysfunctional new Dunkin' Donuts on Melnea Cass Boulevard can get its act together:

Like the current Orange Line, it came into existence because of the plans for the Southwest Expressway, that cancelled road that would have cut through Roslindale, Jamaica Plain and Roxbury (among other neighborhoods), Charles Swift explains.
