Boston Latin Kings leader gets 30 months in prison

A federal judge today sentenced Wilson "King Dubb" Peguero, 29, to 30 months in federal prison for his role as leader of the Devon Street Kings, a chapter of the national Latin Kings gang.

The local gang's best known alleged member is Shaun "Rev" Harrison, a former Boston Public Schools counselor who was already serving time in state prison for shooting an English High School student in the head over marijuana the student was supposed to be selling for Harrison.

Peguero, his twin brother Alexis and Harrison were among 62 alleged Massachusetts Latin Kings members charged last year with various RICO violations.

According to federal prosecutors, Peguero was an Inca, or leader of the Devon Street Kings, also known as D5k. He oversaw drug deals and distribution, ordered the beatings of two Latin Kings members who did him wrong and wrote the lyrics for and starred in several rap videos that served both as promotions for his gang and as warnings to others. For example, in a video titled "PUTT'EM IN DHA DIRT!" he rapped about shooting anybody who got in his way.

Peguero pleaded guilty in July. Prosecutors had asked for 41 months imprisonment. Peguero's attorney argued for 18 months, saying his prompt admission of his guilt showed his remorse and that he accepted responsibility for his actions.
