The folks at the Boston City Archives wonder if you can place this scene. See it larger.

A dental practice in Boston.
Do I win?
Hmmm
I think you need to drill down a little more.

I believe the Forsyth
I believe the Forsyth Institute in the Fenway gave discount dental care to children.

Yes!
It's the Forsyth Dental Clinic in The Fenway
Forsyth?
I'm going with the Forsyth Institute when it was located on The Fenway. Interesting history behind it https://www.forsyth.org/about-us/history/
My Guess...
...is Tufts Dental School. I went there as a kid.
I was thinking the same
but the drill are too small and the needles were much longer.
Scary
God, dental clinics were scary looking in those days. Big, industrial rooms, formal, uniformed nurses, bizarre looking …I bet it had that old time "dentist office smell" too. That's pretty much gone now, but anybody over a certain age remembers that awful smell.
Cost
At what those types of places cost.. I'd take these over
"cosmetic dentistry", which netflix movie do you want me to play while I put a 4K porcelain filling in your back tooth dentist office.
I'll take Little Shop of Horrors any day.
You say that until
you've gone to a dentist who drills your teeth without novocaine (because it wasn't worth the time or money). The dentist I went to as a child did this and it is why I still hate dentists to this day. His having a picture in his waiting room of an old time dentist pulling a patient's tooth with pliers didn't help any.
Has to be ...
a dental school.
A barber shop?
Back when barbers pulled teeth.
jk.
Gee, do u have to pull teeth
